Description

A high ankle strap and breezy cut-outs make the Geraldo sandal a summer must- have. Perched on our signature air cushioned sole, these sandals are crafted from a full-grain, waxy leather designed to distress and change as you wear them. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

  • Love them
UPDATE: it is 11/7 still my fave sandals ever however they are a bit loose now but they are not uncomfortable. I think I will size down next time I purchase these and just push through the break in time. They look better as they age. Ankle strap is short but I am able to buckle just bearly on the last hole. Since it’s leather it gets stretchier with time and as you wear them so each time you go to buckle them it will be easier. I got horrible bubble blisters on the top of my foot big toe but that was expected during the break in. Took me 2 days of wearing to break them in now they are my fave sandals. I have wide feet. My pinky toe almost wants to slide out and the line of pinky toes shows which kinda irks me idk why but that’s just how my feet are so not the shoes fault. They’re very beautiful sandals. I also have sweaty feet so they sometimes make fart sounds or air puffs lol. They look cute with socks too! ... show more

  • Dr. Airwair Martens
From the moment I opened box I said they’re too big! But I was Wrong! They’re perfect! Plus the leather will stretch… they’re pretty chunky but feels comfortable I get a gladiator/ warrior vibe in this strong looking sandal and I am glad I made the investment.,this is my second pair of Dr. Martens self treat in just weeks apart!!I am a size 8 or mostly 8:5 I got the 8!! So if you’re between sizes go down just half size! Not sure if straps will adjust around *thick ankles* but i only got one hole in without it being tight! Bottom Line they’re Cute! ... show more

  • Read this honest review
So, I saw mixed reviews for these shoes, they are discontinued on the Dr.Martens website, and the price kinda gave it away , but they at not original , they aren’t authentic DR.Martens, BUT, they are great dupes, the quality amazed me, they fit very well, no flaws to the make of the shoe, and they look great, I love them, light get another pair:) ... show more

  • I LOVE THESE
I am so happy I purchased these shoes. I am a big Docs fan and wanted a shoe for the summertime. It is cool that these are sandals but still have the iconic Docs silhouette. The straps are very flexible and comfortable, in addition the sole is made of an especially bouncy rubber, more so than normal Docs. I know to size down so I got a women’s size 8 when I normally wear a size 8.5 or 9 and so they fit me well, but like all Docs they run big. I can definitely understand complaints about the top ankle strap. I can only use the loosest hole, or else it would be too tight. Thankfully it works for me, but I feel like it should definitely be a longer strap. That being said, I think the material is pretty stretchy and expect that after a few months of wear I’ll be on the second-loosest hole. The length from the end of the strap to the loosest hole is ten inches. Update: After a month of occasional wear I’m on the second-loosest ankle strap hole, so the leather stretched pretty quickly. ... show more

  • Glad I sized down
I love these shoes, I’ve wanted them for a while now and I’m so glad I sized down. I wear a 9.5 so I decided to size down to a 9 as I do with my dr martens boots and let the leather stretch. The length and width are perfect! Not as bouncy as my docs with bouncing souls but still super comfy. I love the sturdy canvas loop and the amount of room the ankle strap gives me. My only complaint is about the bottom strap. I found it to be a bit short for me so you might need to create another hole. I’m super excited to finally add these to my collection. ... show more

  • Stylish sandals!
For reference, I own Dr. Martens 1460 in UK 6/ women's US 8 (fits a little large) and Dr. Martens 1B60 in UK 5/women's US 7 (fits perfect). I also wear a 7.5 in women's Vans Authentic and a 7.5 in women's Nike Roshe. I ordered this in UK 5/women's US 7. They fit a little large, probably because they are men's shoes. I like that it protects my toes. The straps are too short. I have to put the bottom strap on second hole from the end and the first strap on the first hole from the end. The leather also wrinkles easily. I really like the style of these sandals. The insoles are cushiony and they don't hurt at all. However, I invested in some Summer Soles insoles to help keep my feet dry. ... show more

  • A paragon of footwear!
Been eyeing this style of sandals for quite a while and never could find any I liked. Leave it to docs to have exactly what I was looking for. The style can’t be beat and can be worn with jeans, shorts, or even a summer suit. The leather is smooth, soft and supple and still firm enough for support. Ankles are very comfortable and no chafing or blistering. I ordered my normal US size and they fit like they were made for me. Love them. If your debating buying them, do it. You won’t regret it. ... show more

  • Only one small drawback
Once I finish breaking them in they will be amazing! I bought them for a wedding, and of course, being sturdy leather they rubbed a bit. My only disappointment with these is that the straps could be a tad longer. I have high arches and I really have to tighten down to get the lower strap to fit. However, if I had gone up any in size it would be too big. I absolutely love them, but for that reason, I just couldn't go the full 5 stars. I reccomend some kind of leather conditioner before wearing, and a glide product for your first few wears. ... show more
