    • Brown’s were our best bet, then I realized they made Ultra Preemie
These have been a lifesaver!! Our little one was born about a month early and had issues keeping up with flow, either directly from the breast or pumped milk in a bottle. We tried countless brands of “slow flow” and specialty bottles, and he would still gag, choke, gurgle, cough, etc. He always swallowed a bunch of air while he was gasping, trying to keep up. This led to an upset tummy and a very fussy baby. These are the only truly slow-flow nipples I’ve found. (Before this we thought regular Preemie nipples from Dr. Brown’s were our best bet, then I realized they made Ultra Preemie. There’s a huge difference, in my opinion! I would skip the regular Preemie and go straight to these, if you’re needing something slow.) He handles bottles like a champ now, and he’s even taking some feedings straight from the breast now that he’s learned to pace himself a bit. I definitely believe these nipples helped, and he’s had zero issues switching from bottle to breast. I absolutely would recommend buying these if you are having any troubles with feeding or need a slow-flow nipple. These have been amazing! **Update: Nearly 9 months later, we’re still using ultra preemie and sometimes preemie nipples. He takes 2 bottles a day and breastfeeds the rest of the time. He has zero problem switching from breast to bottle becasue he still has to work for the bottle since the flow is slow. my newborn was born 5 weeks early. He was having trouble with sucking and it was great that Dr. Brown offers these nipple with slower rates so he can eat at his slower pace.

    • Definitely slower than preemie
I did a lot of research on bottles and DOCTOR Brown bottles are the only one of quality and consistent flow rates. The premium about 8 mL per hour. I would definitely say this is a lot slower. I’ve read. It says it’s 35% slower and I highly recommend Dr. Brown.

    • Fixed my baby's nursing strike
These ultra slow flow nipples helped me get through my 3-month-old baby's nursing strike. We are combination feeding (breastfeeding & bottle feeding). We were using Dr Brown's level one nipples from birth. Over time, we determined she was not latching at the breast due to having to work harder, whereas with the bottle nipple, she basically could guzzle the milk down. After 3 days of zero nursing (screaming every time we attempted and had to wind up resorting to a bottle, which calmed her down immediately), we purchased these ultra slow flow premie nipples in a last ditch effort to reestablish breastfeeding. It worked!! Within 2 days, she was latching to the breast with no problem. She realized she was having to work just as hard for milk from the bottle, so it was easier to get her to latch to the breast. Tips for restablishing with the help of these nipples: We tried to feed her way before she was hungry to help prevent any hunger frustration on her end. We did a lot of skin to skin, and every feeding, we would lay her in her normal breastfeeding hold and offer the bottle in that familiar position. We would start with the warm bottle positioned beside the breast to establish familiarity. Halfway through the bottle, we would attempt to latch with the breast. We always try to finish the feeding with the breast. If the breast was refused/she got upset, I would smile at her and immediately give the bottle back, saying "it's ok." This helped her not to associate breastfeeding with my distress or frustration. It worked after 2 days! Just keep trying over and over mamas! Don't give up, they may reestablish. And if not, don't beat yourself up, you're doing a great job! <3 ... show more

I got these because I am currently breastfeeding. My husband gives the baby bottles while I am at work. We originally were giving him a level 1 and he was choking from the fast flow. So my doctor said to try ultra preemie or preemie. So I figured I would start here. Turns out these were a bit too slow. It took him almost an hour to drink 4 Oz. I ended up switching to the preemie flow for just a little bit more flow. But these are great if you are looking for a super slow flow. ... show more

I ordered these because my newborn was choking on everything although they say ultra premie I do believe the flow is fast than just premie. I gave her these and premie and she did great on them. I highly recommend especially if your baby chokes or struggles with eating.

i loved the flow of this! my baby was using the premie flow but it was still too fast for him at 2m so these work perfectly! he is 4m and it’s still the best flow for him. the bottles leak occasionally but i don’t think the nipples are the cause. worth the money
