  • Complete Series but Erroneous DVD 16:9 Pillarbox Encoded
At least we finally got the complete series, which like most of the DIC library releases appear to just be copies of the original broadcast master tapes (i.e. no new film transfers going on here). Unfortunately whoever encoded this DVD seems to think DVDs use square pixels like Blu-ray’s. The entire video is encoded in 16:9 pillar boxed with black bars using much less pixels and resulting in sub-par quality. DVD’s are Anamorphic so they should use all 720x480 pixels for the dvd. A flag tells the player to output as 4:3 or 16:9 and the TV fills in the blank space (blu-rays cannot do this). This dvd is encoded improperly. It is encoded with the 16:9 flag and black bars right in the video known as 16:9 Pillar box (similar to the old 4:3 Letter Box). Thus instead of getting the full 720x480 pixel quality this is lower resolution. This is more like 504x480 pixels (i.e. taking away the black bars). This is the first time I have ever seen someone Erroneously encode 4:3 content into a DVD. They should do a reprint as this is not SD quality by any standards. ... show more

  • To be a dragon, you gotta be strong! Humble never braggin
Got this as a gift for my husband, who grew up watching it and playing Double Dragon on Nintendo. We really enjoy watching it together. It's a cheesy action cartoon show, but it's awesome at the same time. I don't care about the cheesiness. I remember that this show was on TV when I was a kid, but I don't remember watching it. It reminds me of the 80s Ninja Turtles cartoon. It has good morals to share with your kids, like don't judge people with disabilities, be kind to others, etc. There are little PSAs at the end of each episode that are like the "Sonic Says" segment in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (also made by DiC). What's really cool is that this company kept the episodes in their original aspect ratio. They didn't stretch or crop them. It's formatted to fit modern widescreen TVs, so there are black bars on the left and right sides of the picture. The video quality is excellent. The theme song will get stuck in your head! Now it's stuck in mine after writing this review. ... show more

  • Jimmy and Bimmy are the Double Dragons
Excellent 3 disc set. Never was a fan when they were airing new episodes on TV. Tried to watch it, still not a fan. But if you're a fan I am not knocking you. Double Dragon the animated series is an excellent addition to my cartoon library. The Shadow master doesn't stand a chance against Jimmy and Billy Lee. ... show more

  • Relive those classics
Let’s face it. The acting is cheesy as heck and most of the voices are from guys you heard in cartoons throughout the 90’s. Doesn’t change th le fact that this series was so bad it was good! I loved it.

  • Very happy with my purchase of Double Dragon
Exactly how I remember the show growing up. I loved playing the game on the NES and the cartoon made it even cooler. Brings back a lot of good memories.
