  • Perfect replacement to get heat back going in my 20 year old truck
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma and have replaced this part twice because of the expected life expectancy of similar parts in any vehicle. it's a perfect replacement and makes the settings work again in conjunction with the settings I/you'd have on my/our dash. If this part fits your vehicle, and you have lost control settings 1, 2, 3, 4 (but setting "5" works) this is probably the part that you should try before you replace your whole blower motor! it's a little tricky to get at to replace it, but if you're only slightly handy replacing this part will be a snap... and hopefully will get your control settings back in working order... you will be glad that you fixed it! ... show more

  • 2019 Tacoma with updated Blower Motor Resistor....item still worked!
I installed this and didn't know that my Tacoma being 2019 had the new updated Blower Motor Resistor which is only out from Toyota at the time of this review. I did have to research the wiring diagram, but the old connector off, which was perfectly fine, and splice the replacement connector. Installation was relatively easy once I found the diagram online and could proceed with the repair. I was both relieved and pleased, as my blower would only operate on the high setting and I was having a fit with that annoyance. Happy to report a success in my limited experience of mechanical repairing. ... show more

  • "Revive Your Toyota's Climate Control with Dorman 973-582 Resistor Kit!"
Title: A Lifesaver for Toyota HVAC Systems! Rating: ★★★★★ I recently had the pleasure of purchasing the Dorman 973-582 HVAC Blower Motor Resistor Kit for my Toyota, and it's been an absolute game-changer. Here's why I'm singing its praises: This kit was a breeze to install, even for someone with limited DIY experience like me. It came with all the necessary components and clear instructions, making the process smooth as silk. But the real magic happened when I turned on my HVAC system. Suddenly, I had control over my blower motor and fan speed again! No more dealing with unreliable or non-functioning settings. This kit breathed new life into my climate control system. The build quality is top-notch. It feels sturdy and durable, reassuring me that it'll last for the long haul. It's also designed to be a perfect fit for select Toyota models, so you can trust that it's compatible. In terms of value for money, this kit is a home run. It's a fraction of the cost of dealership alternatives, and it delivers the same fantastic results. If you're experiencing HVAC issues in your Toyota, I can't recommend the Dorman 973-582 Blower Motor Resistor Kit enough. It's a cost-effective solution that's a breeze to install, and it'll have your climate control system working like new. Don't hesitate – get it, and enjoy a more comfortable ride! ... show more

  • Perfect fit, WAY better re-design of the resistor
I'm pretty sure my original 2005 resistor had an asbestos or similar coating - it looks like stone age technology compared to this one. This resistor and the harness itself are a super common failure point in Tacomas (put this in a 2005 2.7l base Tacoma), this kit has everything you need including the heat shrink butt joints. Easy install and works great so far, feel this was a great value for what I got. Hopefully this one lasts another 120,000 mi ... show more

  • Get Quality Wire Crimpers
Ahead of my actual review, here's a note to whoever might read this-- Get a high quality wire crimper (and stripper) for the butt splicers if you plan on using the included heavy duty wiring harness. I used a cheap pair and they bent up, and ended up messing up 2 of the butt splicers because my crimper wasn't strong enough. I had to use needle nose pliers instead- do not recommend. Tore the plastic sleeve off of one of them and had to use electrical tape in its place... I had a heck of a time correcting those 2 butt splicers and taping them up to protect the connections but in the end it feels pretty solid. My review: this is a really high quality, durable replacement set for the resistor and the wiring harness. I recommend it for sure (2013 Tacoma with burnt connector on wire C and damaged resistor). Since my wiring connector was loosely built, and burnt a little on the C wire spot, I had to replace the wiring harness with the included connector using the butt splicers. I had a really hard time getting this all done- I know some people say 10 minutes but it took me a little over 2 hours because I had a really hard time squeezing under the passenger side foot area to work on it. The included butt splicers are really hard to crimp and you have to get it right the first time or it gets a little messy. Replacing just the resistor was a piece of cake (5.5mm socket for the 2 screws FYI), but doing the wires was pretty hard for me. I got it done safely enough in the end, and tucked the extra wires behind the carpet in the very back as best I could. I have a little anxiety about the wires being back there but its probably better than the loose dangerous connection that was just dangling in the open before. Remember to disconnect your battery negative first, and after it's all said and done run your engine and let it idle for like 10 or so minutes to relearn the computer settings, idle will drop back down to normal slowly. I've included mixed photos of the old and new wiring connector. ... show more
