Avoid sweeping the product over a long distance, so that its integrity is preserved. Sweep off excess product with a hard-bristled broom. Use a leaf blower to remove all remaining DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand residue from the surface. Set the spray nozzle to "shower". Work in sections of no more than 9 sq. ft. ensuring wetness throughout the joint. Wait a few seconds and repeat spray pattern. Use a leaf blower to remove any excess water remaining on the surface. This is to ensure all DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand residue is removed from the surface. Please refer to this activation chart to avoid underwatering/overwatering the product. If you notice foam, don’t worry. Stop watering the sand to prevent the polymers from washing away. Elevate your outdoor space. Transform ordinary pavers with our designer sands. Your vision, our colors. Remember, DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand is haze- and dust-free and requires no additional compaction, making your project easier and quicker to complete. My sand doesn’t harden after 24 hours. I can still press it or scratch it with my finger. Why is this happening? Humidity and temperature can increase the cure time. Polymeric sand will set once that water has fully evaporated from the sand. Note that polymeric sand will appear flexible when wet and may feel spongey but will remain set in your paver joints. After I watered in the sand my pavers now have a haze to them. What did I do wrong? The surface must be completely dry at the beginning of the application process. Any moisture will cause the polymers to stick and prematurely activate leaving a white residue on the surface. Wait 14 days after application to clean your pavers. I am replacing my existing joint stabilizer that is 2" deep. Do I have to remove all the old sand and start fresh? We would recommend removing all the old sand and starting fresh. The old sand underneath could result in poor drainage, causing sand failure due to improper drainage conditions. You need to remove at least 1" for the new sand to perform as intended. I filled the joints until sand reached the top of my pavers. Now rain keeps washing out my sand. Why is this happening? DOMINATOR should fill the joints up to 1/8" BELOW the surface of your paver to avoid washout. When sweeping the sand into the paver joints, you should be able to freely sweep across the surface of your pavers without disturbing the sand. I chose a color but when I received it, it wasn’t the same color as the images. Why is this? Screen colors may vary. Choose a small size to confirm the color is desired for the entire project. Activate it to see the final color as the sand will darken slightly after activation with water. Protect your new investment or revitalize existing surfaces! This easy-to-apply, professional-grade, fast-drying formula enhances and protects the color of your surfaces.

  • This stuff works great!
I used this for a 240 square foot patio made of 1 foot pavers. Put down 3 - 4 inches of decomposed granite and used a plate compactor (rented from HD) to make sure it was solid. Then a 1 inch layer of sand to set the pavers. Set them in and lightly tamped them in. Just left a 1/8 inch gap between the pavers. They felt "loose" when walking on them, even though the base was very firm, they'd move slightly when walking. I had planned on using another brand of poly sand, but when I looked at the instructions, the stuff available locally said it was for 1/4 inch or larger gaps. I found this Dominator Polymeric sand at Amazon, it had good reviews, and said it could be used for 1/8 gaps. So I bought the 45 lb bucket. Installation was pretty simple: Spread the sand over the pavers, then sweep it into the gaps. I used a 24" push broom with fairly still bristles. Keep spreading sand and sweeping until the gaps are full. I found that going across the gaps at an angle worked best. When the gaps are full, sweep the excess off. Then use a leaf blower to get the remaining dust. Use the leaf blower LIGHTLY so you don't blow the sand out of the gaps! Following the instructions, I used a hose set on shower to spray small sections (about 8x10) at a time. Spray for 15 - 20 seconds until water just starts to pool on the sand, then stop and wait about 30 seconds. Then spray it a second time. It only took about 5 minutes to do my 240 square feet. I again used a leaf blower to blow any sand residue off the top of the pavers. To be honest, I don't think that made a difference on my concrete pavers, as I used the Titanium color, which perfectly matched the pavers. I don't think I did a good job with the second round of blowing, but there are no stains anywhere. That's it. Done. And when walking on the pavers immediately afterwards, they were SOLID! The sand was still wet, but this stuff really locked the pavers into place! And the next day, after the sand had cured more, it was even more solid. The stuff sets up almost like a good silicone sealant; it's flexible, but it's kinda glues the pavers together. I had about a 1/4 inch gap around the perimeter of the pavers, between the pavers and the aluminum edging I used, and (about 2 weeks later) you can press your finger into those spots and it's still kind of flexible. Solid, but flexible. It feels like it'll stay that way for years. And the pavers don't move around - at all! We moved our patio furniture onto it, and use it daily. The 45 lb bucket was just enough to do our 240 square foot patio with 12 inch paver with 1/8 inch gaps. And I mean just barely. If you have bigger gaps or smaller pavers, you'd need more. Yes, it's fairly expensive compared to the kind at the big box stores, but it's worth every penny. If you're doing pavers, don't even think about getting something else - this stuff is awesome! ... show more

  • A good quality product!
Color: Titanium Gray Size: 10 Pound
The Dominator Polymeric Sand is a great product that actually works. I have tried similar products found in the garden center of the local big box hardware store which never really worked. After applying this product I can walk away and get busy with other projects in my house! JS

  • Great product
Color: Titanium Gray Size: 40 Pound
The product was easy to work with and filled our concrete joints just as expected. However, the titanium gray color is almost white with very little gray color. I wish I'd purchased charcoal gray.

  • Easy to use but pricey
Color: Natural Ivory Size: 40 Pound
Only reason it’s not getting 5 stars is because of the price. Very easy to use and looks great.

  • Hardened up nicely
Color: Camel Brown Size: 40 Pound
I used this DOMINATOR polymeric sand to complete the steps on my back patio, and it worked well. The camel brown color looks nice, and it hardened up nicely after installation. It helped fill the joints and gave the patio steps a cleaner, more finished look. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out. ... show more

  • Exacting to apply and expensive.
Color: Camel Brown Size: 10 Pound
Works as expected as a paver lock sand, but the very fine grain requires much more work. The fine grain will imbed in any surface texture of the pavers and is hard to brush out. This residual sand becomes imbedded in the paver surface when wet and creates a hazy, sandy finish. Thus it is much harder to clean before activating with water. Other polymer paver sand brands are 1/3 less expensive than Dominator and easier to apply. I cannot justify the higher cost for more effort and the same result. ... show more

  • Watering is the KEY
Color: Natural Ivory Size: 10 Pound
I ordered this product to repair a few areas on my three paver walks that were completed 3 years ago. The affected areas were mainly where the paver walks abutted the trex deck staircases and cement driveway. The product poured easily into gaps as wide as 1/16" even though it advertises a 1/8" minimum. I first scrubbed the walks and allowed them to dry overnight. I then cleaned the affected gaps with a putty knife the next day and then carefully poured sand into them until it reached 1/8" below the paver surface. I then watered the sand with an adjustable hose nozzle in the following manner. First, set the sprinkler head to mist and water the sand for about 5-8 seconds. Second, after waiting 1 minute, set the sprinkler head to shower and water the sand for 5-6 seconds. Do not allow the water to stand on the sand, Lastly, after waiting 1-2 minutes with the head still on shower, water the sand for 3-4 seconds. Most important: Always wave the sprinkler across the sand, do not pause over one area while watering. Two hours after completion, the sand should be firm to a light touch. Leave it alone for a minimum of 24 hours to fully cure. These directions are for small gap widths of 1/16" to 3/16". Larger gaps will require longer water times. ... show more

  • They don't have the 40 lb bag, only 10 lb.
I ordered their 40 lb bag twice. First time it was lost in transit. Never had that happened to my other Amazon orders before. Second time I waited for 2 weeks and they still had not shipped it. I doubt they actually had it on hand. I cancelled it and order 4 bags of 10 lb instead. 10 lb bags were more expensive but I got them in 1 week. I used the polymeric sand to fill the gaps in my driveway and it worked as expected. Tip: scoop up the sand in a small cup and gently shake it into where you want it to minimize spillage. Then activate with water mist. No compaction needed. ... show more
