Easy to install with couple screws into mounting bracket. Heater secures to mounting bracket with thumb screw, making it quick and easy to remove from mount and cover in plastic bag if you wash out your doghouse. Must make a bigger hole for power cord due to control box size if mounted on out side of house if no other holes available to route cord and control. Control box and heater are made as one assembly connected by couple feet of conduit. Regular plastic cord from control box to power plug. For plastic one piece dog house use roof vent hole and make a small notch in doghouse shell at vent opening, reinstall vent. I own doghouses that are plastic one piece, plastic multiple piece assembled and home built wood dog house condo. Maintains temperature within an 8F band, which seems like a ridiculously huge dead band. BUT it's doing what it's supposed to. And dogs aren't really going to notice that much change, even though it'd be very obvious to humans. Installation was fairly easy, though I would have liked more mounting points so I could have mounted it lower. In 36F weather, high winds, in Colorado, it takes 11 minutes to raise the temperature from 71F to 78F. That's pretty solid, and makes me believe the claimed wattage of this heater, which is something most products seem to lie about (since most people buy heaters for the easy climates of cities). I'm estimating this heater can keep a dog house survivable to at least -20F. It's definitely a beast, which is exactly what you need when you live in an ACTUALLY rough climate. Even when it's been running for a while, the heating elements don't glow, which means it'd be tough for it to start a fire under any circumstances. I have a very furry German Shepherd, so this is a big concern. Also, it's not UL certified. This is a significant concern, but getting UL certified costs money, and they're probably trying to keep costs down. So it's one of those things that's generally not a good sign, but doesn't mean anything in itself. Plus I have it on a GFI (WHICH EVERY PERSON SHOULD DO FOR ANYTHING EXTERIOR REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION), and it (at least supposedly) has a bunch of built-in protections. So overall, very happy with this heater so far. I'll update this review if/when I have any problems. In the meantime, GET UL CERTIFIED. I understand it adds a little to the price, but it lets people know the heater won't burn down their neighborhood. ... show more

    • Not very accurate and app is a worthless

I have had this heater for about three months and so far, I am pretty disappointed. The heater itself works, but the actual temperature varies significantly from the set temperature. I have a separate digital thermometer (that I have used in various settings and have tested for accuracy) in the pet enclosure to ensure I am keeping my tortoise warm enough. At any given time, there is as much as 8-10 degrees variance between what I have the thermostat set to and the actual temperature in the enclosure. The app for programming and monitoring the heater is useless. Every single morning when I open it to check/adjust the temperature, it doesn’t work and I have to restart my phone (every single day!) to get it to work. I have reinstalled the app several times but the problem persists. It’s kind of a hassle. If you don’t actually care about maintaining a particular temperature range and just need some heat, it works - but if you want to ensure that you are not overheating or underheating your pet, find something else. ... show more

    • Defective but heats fine

Will not connect to app no matter what way, wifi light flashes but app does not see the heater and when i try the ap setup where it needs to flash slowly it doesn't flash slowly so the wifi ability of my heater doesn't work at all

Great product so far. It was pretty straight forward install and connecting to my phone. The app is a great feature. Only time will tell though if it will hold up. As of right now I would definitely recommend this product.
