Thunderstorms scare my dog. The comfort jackets help a little, but he would still crawl under small tables, chairs; anything to get protection from a loud sound that he can’t see or jude its danger. Plus, the jackets are just too hot to keep on inside the house. When it arrived, I saw I had accidentally order large instead of extra large. We put it together anyway to see if he would try and use it. Only half of him could get into it, so we knew we needed the extra size. The company was agreeable with my returning the large and at the same time I went ahead and ordered the extra larger size. Just then a storm hit. Somehow, my dog managed to insert himself into the little cubby hole. He can’t move around, but he’s not scared now. He had armor.lol We decided to keep both since it’s very sturdy and obviously flexable. Plus this allows hime to be close to his family while hidding. Finally! A big dog canopy! Quality is wonderfully soft. Our 55 lb husky mix dog loves it. We felt happy that our bigger dog can get a canopy of her own. The blanket and toy were nice surprises. Very pleased. Our 6 lb chihuahua mix loves it too. 5 stars

When I opened the package I noticed that the two zippers used to give the dog bed a shape had the top handles broke. It still zipped up and I’m able to make use of it as intended but it was a pain due to the handles on the zippers not being there. My dog loves the bed. She has a terrible time with weather and used to pace a lot but now she just curls up on the bed which makes me happy for her. I would buy again as I’m sure the zipper problem is a once in a thousand problem and I was the lucky one. ... show more

I bought one of these beds, an XL, four months ago for my 22 lb mixed. This second bed, a LG, is for my 11 lb Yorkie. The beds are well-made using sturdy attractive material. The zippers seem sturdy enough, and they make it easier cleaning the beds. I got larger size beds than my dogs actually needed. This lets my dogs stretch out when desired, and helps keep the beds from getting permanently stretched out of shape. At night I keep a small infant blanket draped over the beds' doorways. We have a 60 lb. lab-mix who is TERRIFIED of thunderstorms and fireworks-- she'll even look for a small, dark place to lay when it's about to rain. For the past 2 years, her go-to spot has either been our pantry or underneath my husband's desk. Crazy concept, but my husband needs his leg room when he's working and all 60 lbs. of a scared pup doesn't really allow for that. I found this bed/house combo when looking for a smaller "cave" for our 14 lb. chihuahua mix, and after reading multiple reviews I decided to give it a shot. It couldn't have been scripted better-- the box and a thunderstorm arrived around the same time! We got the bed and house out and put together in 10 minutes max, and the minute my husband took it into his office and got her attention, she quickly scurried from under his desk into her new "cave" and stayed there until the storm was gone. I knew right away that I had made one of my best Amazon purchases ever! I'm so glad that she now has a safe and comfortable spot to retreat to when she's anxious instead of laying on the hardwood floor. She's even added it to her rotation of sleeping spots at night. Dog size: 60 lbs, roughly 28" long and 21" tall Bed/house size purchased: 3XL I purchased the 3XL because I wanted her to be able to stand up and move around inside if she needed to. While it is very large, she has more than enough room and I would still order the 3XL if I had to do it all over again. But for reference, my 6'3" husband can crawl inside with her comfortably. Cons: - shipping took a long time even with Prime - the removable bed on the inside is thin and has started coming apart from her scratching at it; swapped it out with an existing memory foam bed and it's even better than before - wish there were more exterior colors to choose from ... show more

Our elderly dog has become scared of thunderstorms and fireworks in the last year or so. She was hiding under desks, in closets, etc. I thought she'd only use this when she wanted to hide, but it's now her go-to spot for naps. This is much easier to move around than the covered dog crate we had set up for her before. It's a little wider than most of our doors but you can just "squish" it a little to get it through to another room. She's about 60 lbs. and this is a 2XL. Plenty of room. Caveat Emptor. Dog loves it in the winter here in the PNW. Got this a year after we had our oak hardwood floors redone. Whatever the black plastic/rubber non-skid bottom that is on this hut marked up our hardwood like a Sharpie pen. Our re-finisher came out and tried to clean it to no avail. He sent a note to his product rep, but thinks the floor will need to be refinished. Magic Eraser, Goo-Gone, and even Acetone would not remove the marks. ... show more
