I was so excited to have a fire on my new composite deck - I was told as long as fire pit is 4 inches above, it won't be a problem. Mine is 9 inches off the ground and first fire we noticed bubbling. Only used once. For a couple hours. Seems to work with my solo stove WITH STAND. IMPORTANT WITH STAND. No damage to bare cedar decking. Individual use may vary. Nothing is perfect. Be careful. If unsure order two and double layer.

This product works very well. I purchased it to put under a fire pit that is on a wood deck. It catches all of the sparks and debris that come from the fire. The mat itself does not show any scorch marks. After use it can be folded up and stored. Very pleased!

We use this silicone base for the fire pit. It covers about 6 in more than our small fire pit. It safe when wood pops and land on it. Good material for the price. Good for small BBQ grills too.
