  • Takes a while while to heat up .. but works well.
Takes almost 10 min to properly heat up .. but works well.

  • Temp adjustment?
While this works great for lead, but I'm using it more for other alloys with lower melting points and sensitivity issues so I've integrated a PID controller to handle temperature control. The stand is kinda scary, the heavy cord likes to tug on the pot and the stand doesn't provide much stability. It's got old world charm and simplicity but I'd love to see an enhanced model offered. This style with the external heating element is for sure better than the older ones. ... show more

  • Works well for what we do
I bought this hot pot for my husband who makes metal soldiers out of old molds. He was melting in old pots and I thought this would do the trick. It did. It keeps the metal hot and it heats fast. I only wish it had a safer base when you set it down. It feels a bit wobbly and I worry that it will tip over. He was happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Get Really Hot!
The molds that I have require that you use a hand pour ladle to get past the spinnerbait wire. I don't like that feature as it would have been easy for them to have the sprue on the bait on the other side away from the wire like many other Do-It molds. Anyway, the size is great and it is not too heavy. It pours really easy so be careful or you get over-pours really easy on the smaller baits. It also gets really hot and could benefit from a rheostat or other temperature control device. If I were younger, I would build in my own temperature controller. This means as it is, you will need to unplug it after about 15 to 20 minutes and then plug it back in after about the same time. If you are going to pour more than 30 or 40 lures then this could be a problem for you. I have pot with a trip lever but can't use it with the Do-It molds. As for volume, I have poured at least 75 3/8 and 1/2 ounce fishing lures and still have half the volume of lead alloy left in the pot. I wish I had purchased years ago as the bottom pour pot has been leaking for years. ... show more

  • Worked very well
I have a 58 caliber rifle. I purchased precast ammo from a dealer, but they kept jamming in my rifle. I Needed a means to melt and recast these conical's. I had the cast for bullets but needed a pot. This did the trick. I was surprised at how fast it melted the old bullets and the ease of casting new ones. Highly recommend...... ... show more

  • Size Matters
Much smaller than I expected. Otherwise, it works great. Once it gets hot, it melts lead quickly. Have to be patient to let it get hot, then to let it cool.

  • It works like a champ
I purchased this to assist me in making my own sinkers for fishing. It works like a champ. It takes about 10 min or so to initially melt the lead put in it, but once you have melted lead in the pot anything more you put in melts quickly. The cord is pretty short so be sure there is an outlet close to where you plan on using this thing. Smaller extension cords will probably get hot. I pour my sinkers directly from this without using a ladle. The pour is good. It doesn't run down the side first or anything like that. The pot is on the small side, but in all honesty its perfect for pouring a few sinkers here and there. I would definatly look for something bigger if mass production is your game ie..bullets. ... show more
