  • Great learning tool
Color: black
This is a great controller to learn how to setup and control DMX lights. This is what I got it for and it does everything I needed to control the lights and program scenes. The instructions are clear and the unit is easy to learn and use. What sets this apart from the higher end models is the construction. I'd be really careful about taking this unit on the road and out to gigs. While the case is metal, the sliders and controls seem a little weak and would easily break. If you can be careful with your gear or aren't traveling with it much, this controller will be a bargain for you. ... show more

  • Seems to work exactly the same as the big name brand
Color: black
This unit looks identical to a very popular (and pricey) lighting controller. And from what I've been able to tell so far, it works very similarly as well. I have had no problem setting up a few fixtures on this controller. I'm fairly new to DMX, so this is more of an experiment than anything, but it's been pretty easy to figure out so far. The faders do feel fairly cheap, and the buttons don't feel like they'd take the beating of a touring rig. I'd probably recommend you use this at home to experiment and practice and figure out what you're doing. I wouldn't put this in a professional rig. Overall, I'm quite happy with this controller for what it is. I'm excited to have the opportunity to learn something new! ... show more

  • Garbage.... Don't even waste your time.
Color: black
Looks great when you open the box. Immediately upon removing the dmx box, there were things shaking inside. Sent right back. Don't need a fire....

  • Standard configuration for a DMX controller. Confusing polarity switch.
Color: black
=== Packaging === Included in the box was the controller, protected by foam on the ends, a power supply, and manual. The contents and box were damage and there were no missing parts. === Construction=== The control has a metal body, angled forward, and the control face is 5.25 inches tall (3U) with rack screw holes built into the metal face. The buttons were "clicky", that is a bit noisy. The sliders had a nice stiffness but would "rocker" when at the top or bottom of the sliding slot. The LED readout was bright and easy to read. The back of the controller has a polarity switch, female DMX out port, power supply connection, and on/off switch. === Use === The controller works as expected. As with most of these budget controllers, the fixture number is preset with DMX addresses. Each fixture number, 1 through 12, can have up to 16 DMX channels. The rear panel has a polarity switch. In the manual, it states there are three positions to the switch. Physically, the switch only has two positions. There are no markings on the controller chassis near the switch. It was shipped with the switch to right, when facing the rear panel. === Summary === I'm not sure why this controller states "DMX 512", when it only uses 192 channels. The from control surface has appears to be non-removable if keeping the control in a desktop configuration. You'll have to live with the rack mount holes unless you mount into a rack controller case. For the price, the controller is on par with other import controllers. The difference is usually in product support and thoroughness of the manual. I haven't had to contact support for this controller, but the manual could use a lot of work. Overall, average marks on design, usage, and documentation. ... show more

  • Excellent and Affordable DMX Controller
Color: black
This DMX controller is excellent. The build quality is great with the body of it being comprised of metal while the buttons and sliders are plastic. It has a decent solid feel to it and I think it will stand the test of time as long as it is well cared for. I've tested this controller with my PAR light setup and it performed well controlling all four of my lights using individual channels. I was able to control every function from brightness, pulse, color change, etc without problem. I only ran into issues when I was attempting to control all of them at once using the controller and the PAR lights in master/slave mode. I do not think this was an issue with the equipment though and lays more with the end user as admittedly I am an amateur at this. Based on my research it may not actually be possible to perform DMX control while using DMX devices in master/slave mode but I'm not 100% on this. Other than my potential user error the controller performs as expected. It also has a ton of controllable channels as well as the ability to create saved custom presets. $48.99 seems like a great price to me based on the large amount of channels and features that this controller supports. I've seen other controllers in this same price range that don't have near as many channels let alone the ability to save custom presets. For the price and the large amount of options available I can definitely recommend this product. ... show more
