Really fabulous kit and instructions! This was the first piece of furniture we have ever made, but we are DIYers so we have experience with lots of other home improvement work. The instructions for this kit are superb! The instruction book lays out all materials you need to purchase and outlines every single cut. I recommend buying high quality plywood from a wood supplier (not from a big box home improvement store) and take your time with the edging and be sure to stain or paint everything prior to putting together. We had a few questions and sent a couple of emails to the company and they promptly replied. Highly recommend this kit to anyone wanting to make a Murphy bed themselves. If we had bought a kit of this quality, we would have spent $5-6k easily. The materials including the price of the kit were only about $900. Highly recommend!

The hardware seems to be off good quality. Lots of instructions, but a simple blueprint would be helpful. I struggled to find dimensions and how they related to the adjoining.paets without a diagram. It forces you to rely on the cut sheets and stickers. They spent a lot ofomey on videos with no sound,(I double checked other videos had sound).really nice booklet.too. the warranty is also a plus.

This item is great and works as expected. It comes with two books, one with instructions, and the other with a cut list. You can also easily find these instructions online. You can follow the cut list, or if you are experienced you can design the cabinet yourself. Mine came with a slightly non-functioning piece (a pin that holds the sides together was locked closed) and when I emailed the company they sent me a replacement part within the week. The customer service was great, and besides that hiccup, everything works as expected.

Instructions were great, cutsheet for material was easy to follow, just took the sheet to store with me and they made all the cuts for me. Took me a couple of days to assemble but following instructions was easy. Make sure you have plenty of screws the correct length. Makes my guest room now a workout room.

You do need to have woodworking tools and skill. The instructions were pretty good. On the cut list, the measurements did not match on one sheet, printing error. And another spot it said to use 1 1/4 screws to connect a 2x2 to a 3/4” ply……ya, use 2”😅. And you don’t need to band everything they say. But unless you have intimate knowledge of the parts, you’re just going to have to band everything. And one or two smaller print mistakes like if you want a twin support rod, it’s not 39” like in the book, if it sounds fishy read shared and make your decision. Customer service is very quick to respond. I asked them if I could take 2 singles and make a bunk and if they had plans for that. They said, no, do not make a bunk out of it. As you can see in the pictures, I did it anyway. I made a couple modifications. 1- side boards are double tall so it’s one piece. 2- reversed the legs on the top bunk for a roll bar….. not sure that was worth it 🤷♀️. I painted before I put together because it is way easier to paint before hardware and corners are created. I painted one side of each banded board. And I read ahead and found a few more un-banded boards that would need paint. This project did take me working for several days (I do get interrupted a lot). The instructions were easy to follow. The video was helpful, but super annoying not to have words. Maybe people complained about the audio before🤷♀️. Yes, I recommend this item.

Hardware works great. Easy to open and close. Took a star away because the Murphy bed building instructions could be better. Several errors and I often found the instructions were for building a vertical bed although I got the one for horizontal beds. You definitely need to have carpentry skills to catch the mistakes before you get too far.

I haven't built the bed yet, just been too busy. The directions and cut sheets are outstanding! I'm a cabinet maker, so I knew I could build this reguardless. I really just needed the hardware. The instructions for this are extremely well written and easy to understand. They're even large print! You can read them from 5 ft away! I'll update after I get the bed built, but I don't think there will any change. Seems like a great product!

This kit is marketed as a home DIY friendly build, but in my opinion, not for a complete beginner or some one who has done little to no wood working skills. Even for two people who have a lot of experience with working with tools this was not as DIY friendly as it is marketed. Firstly, the total cost of materials including the kit was more than we had originally planned for; about $500, not including the tools we already had (Miter saw, power drill, table saw). The shopping list part of the instructions was clear and concise, but after getting the wood cut down to the right dimensions we had quite a bit of leftover lumber. This was useful when we had to redo 1-2 cuts, but overall it seems a bit inefficient. Which brings me to my next point, the building instructions. Part of the instructions had fully drilled and partially drilled holes, but due to the convoluted directions we made a mistake and had to recut some of the wood. Another section did not explain how to install the hydraulics correctly, they were extremely stiff and eventually learned that the bed must be closed to install them but is not notated properly. Overall, it took us about 3 days to put the bed together. It would have been faster if we did not have to make the majority of the cuts ourselves. The video in the product description says his local hardware store (Home Depot) had them cut the lumber down for him but that was not our experience as they don't do project cuts. In the end, we are happy with the end result but if we were to build another murphy bed it will not be from this company.
