    • Use more catalyst than expected.
Sadly, my first layer did not dry properly, despite ideal conditions (low humidity, 75 degrees, good ventilation). I used 3 drops of catalyst in 1/3 oz, which is a bit rich on the catalyst seeing you would use 5 drops in 1 oz in my given conditions. For the second layer upped it to 5 drops in 1/3 oz and it dried properly. A decent kit, but the catalyst is either weak or old, so use more than you think you need. ... show more

    • Solid inexpensive starter kit
This kit has a good set of starter items for repairing your own surfboards. After speaking with a local shaper he suggested I add: -Masking tape -60 / 120 /180 / 240 grit sandpaper (wet/dry for the finer grits, this really lets you match the finish on modern matte surfboards) -gloves -mask -acetone for prep and cleanup I picked all that up at a local hardware store for under $20. I followed Faktion Surfboards shaper Mark Petrocelli's guide on pilgrim surf, great step by step with photos. No one likes a poorly sanded glob of sun cure for a repair, like I used to make. With this kit, a few extra items, and a good step by step (tons on Google) you can get very good results. ... show more

    • Great kit!
It's got all the basics and works great. A couple tips: get a finer grit sand paper then the one supplied to really blend your patch jobs right. Also if your board is not white in the area you're working on, skip the q-cell. The q-cell just makes the resin easier to manage but dries white or milky depending on how much of it you used. Just use less at one time, work in stages and you should be fine and your stick will look mint afterwards. ... show more

    • Takes very long to harden
It takes hours to harden on direct sun with the recommended resin/q-cell/hardener amounts. Much, much easier and effective with other brands. I would use this one only for a flat area where I can pour the resin and let it dry for 6 hours. I would not buy this product again.
