    • DC current with AC component readings are different depending on current flow direction.

I bought this clamp to use with my Bluetooth multi-meter to record current usages of my car battery over time. The current clamp outputs voltage 1mV/A for both DC and AC. For AC current, It outputs AC voltage, so the multi-meter should be set for AC readings. At 0 AC current the output is 0.1mV, but don't reset the reading, as at 170mA, the output is 0.17mV without resetting. And at 1A the output is about 3% lower, but at higher current (>2A), the output is within 1% accuracy. For DC current ( switched by a press button), You need to reset the reading ( It is about 1mV without resetting ). The zero current readings is jumping between 0 and 0.03 mV, and the earth's magnetic field affects the reading up to 0.2mV ( By moving the clamps to different orientations ). The DC current output is within 2% accuracy, if it is a pure DC current. However, if the DC current contains AC component, the readings are quite different depending on the current flow directions. For example, my 24v pure SIN inverter with no load draws 0.7A RMS. The clamp adapter outputs 0.4mV and 1.1mV depending on which direction the current is running. For current below 1A, I suggest to wind the current wire N turns before clamping it, as the reading will be increased N times if you do so. ... show more

I've tested and used it a few times and it displays perfectly Accurate Readings when comparing it to a 50,000 Count Fluke model that my buddy has. That being said, I wouldn't want to drop this from any height because I think it would break the casing or screen, so No outdoor field work recommended. But I use this Meter only for Table Top Bench testing of Parts, Mainly do to it's Precise High Resolution and it's Large Size, and it works superbly so far. I have 2 other Meters that I use for Portability and Durability, but this one is Perfect for Bench Testing. 5 Stars so far for it's Functionality as a 40,000 Count High Resolution Meter. I'LL update later if things change with the Accuracy or Durability. ... show more

Copy/pasted from my Amazon Item Return comment: Followed the instructions, installed battery and connected to my multimeter before turning on. Minimal readings showing it was connected , nothing near accurate for AC nor DC. Garbage.

This simply does not work very well. I used it side by side vs a reputable brand and it didn't read anywhere close to the correct reading for AC or DC current.
