  • Works in hard, rocky soil
We live in the Edwards Plateau region of Central Texas. Our soil is very hard and absolutely filled with rocks, making typical gardening hand tools all but useless. To drill holes for plants, I have to use a hand drill with an auger attached, and if I need a bigger hole, my husband has to break up the rocks with overhead swings from an axe. This dibbler does a good job if I need a small hole, like if I'm transplanting small plants that mostly have a long tap root instead of roots that spread out. With the dibbler's t-shaped top and pointed bottom as well as its overall small circumference, I'm able to get more leverage and maneuver around smaller surface rocks. It's also pretty good at prying up impacted rocks that are in my way. I also use the dibbler in much softer soil and even straight perlite when rooting cuttings. Previously, I would use my finger to make a small hole, but this is faster, cleaner, makes a smaller hole, and is easier to get between closely-spaced cuttings than getting my whole hand between them. I'm more than happy with this dibbler. It has become one of my top five most-used gardening tools. ... show more

  • Stabby and pokey for growing things
Up here in the PNW we have some soil that has a good amount of sand mixed in, but an awful amount of rocks and occasionally hard packed soil. The strength of this dibbler and its pointed tip means that I can pierce down to the necessary depth more easily than using a traditional shovel. The tip is securely attached to the handle and isn’t moving even when prying around between embedded rocks. It was extremely useful in getting some last minute garlic cloves in the ground. The wooden handle is nice and smooth, and because it tapers out a bit at the mid point I can grasp around the middle and on the top of the handle. The leather strap is an afterthought and will be lost in no time since it doesn’t attach well to the tool. ... show more

  • Well built bulb planter tool with debpt markings
This is a tool to help when planting bulb the plants. It's very convenient when planting the bulbs because it only requires you to push the tool down into the dirt to create a hole in which to plant the bulb. The tool has markings that give you the depth you are at when pushing the tool into the dirt. It's made mostly of wood but the point that gets pushed down into the dirt is made of metal so while I haven't had this item for too long, I do believe it will hold up with repeated and long lasting usage. Note that the metal point is a sharp point so make sure you find a spot to store this because if someone were to bump or fall into it, I could see it causing serious injury. ... show more

  • This dibber + Rubber mallet = Easy holes!
This might sound funny, but I actually got this to put lawn lights in the ground. First let me say the wood and metal on this are high quality! For its intended use it works like a dream. For my use... I took my rubber mallet and whacked at the top handle repeatedly until it got 5 inches of depth, and let me tell you...this thing can take a beating lol. After doing 12 lights not a single dent...chip...crack...nothing. Keep in mind I am not using this as you should use it, but it is fantastic for getting holes in the ground. ... show more

  • Great little garden tool
Great first impressions of this handy little garden tool. The wood handle is smooth and comfortable to hold, and it feels pretty sturdy. It's fairly light weight overall, and the tip seems sharp (hoping it will help reduce some of the hand fatigue I get with other tools). I am an avid gardener, and have clay soil other than my raised beds, so this tool will have to work hard; if it doesn't hold up, I'll update my review (it does also say there's a 100% lifetime warranty though). Right now I'm really happy with this dibber and can't wait to put it to the test! ... show more

  • Lightweight, yet heavy duty
Our ground is partly frozen at the moment, but I'm already planning and dreaming for spring planting and this will make a lovely addition to my planters arsenal. Smooth wood, light weight but also feels solid in the hand. The metal end is sturdy, sharp and I like that it's got measured markings. It's larger than I expected making this very nice for lots of applications. Small annoyance, the lovely leather strap for hanging has no hole or place for permanent attachment. It was simply looped twice and knotted - allowing it to slide right off ... show more

  • Upped My Gardening Game
The media could not be loaded. I am thrilled to share my experience with the seeding spike I recently purchased for my garden. The spike is an incredible tool that has made planting seeds a breeze. It creates precise holes for the seeds to be planted at the perfect depth, resulting in faster sprouting times. Since using the seeding spike, I have noticed an improvement in the growth of my garden. Moreover, the high-quality materials used in its construction ensure that it will last for years. I recommend investing in this tool for anyone looking to take their gardening game to the next level. ... show more

  • Great Quality
This dibber is a great size. The handle is made of wood and the point has a great sturdiness to it. The stainless steel tip has quality and a sharp point making it easy to push into the ground. Very happy with the quality. Used it a few times now and it's nice that it's on the larger size.
