  • Dewalt sets the standard
Can’t say enough about how much my husband loves this. It’s late so it’s easy to carry around, it works very well for all the mini jobs. We need it for like cleaning up all the Pineneedles from a Christmas tree which it did really well! Its suction power is better than our last unit. It has all the attachments that we need. In terms of durability, we have only owned it for a few months now so I can’t vouch for its longevity yet, but it’s holding up well so far. DeWalt is the gold standard for Dry vacs fax like these. ... show more

  • The DeWalt 4-Gallon Shop Vac: Small but Mighty!
As someone who constantly finds themselves knee-deep in DIY projects and workshop chaos, this shop vac has been a fantastic addition to my toolkit. This little powerhouse is deceptively compact but packs a punch that tackles everything I throw at it (including clearing out a sludgy HVAC condensate drain). First off, the portability is a game-changer. Shaped like a toolbox with a strong handle, it's super easy to lug around from one job site to another. Despite its compact size, the 4-gallon tank is more than enough for my daily cleanups. Plus, the onboard storage for accessories keeps everything tidy and within reach, which is a big win for someone as scatterbrained as I am. The suction power is impressive, thanks to the 5 peak horsepower motor. It handles everything from sawdust to wet debris without breaking a sweat. The fine-dust cartridge filter does a stellar job with small particles, making sure no mess is left behind. And let's not forget the ultra-flexible hose and 20-foot power cord that let me reach just about anywhere without constantly unplugging and moving the unit. One feature I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is the built-in blower port. It’s powerful enough to clear sawdust and debris from my workspace in seconds. No more manual sweeping or blowing things away with a wimpy handheld fan. In short, this 4-Gallon vac is a beast in a compact body. It's portable, powerful, and incredibly efficient. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a professional contractor, this shop vac will quickly become your go-to for any cleanup job. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Suprisingly Well Built, Good Engineering in the Design
Mine does a great job of sucking the ashes and soot out of my pellet smoker. I'm pretty impressed! PRO- - LONG, relatively flexible power cord. Neither the wire nor the insulation seem stiff. More like true rubber and copper, old style vacuum cord. - Good hidden storage for the two tool attachments. The tools don't stick out to snag things. - Great, flexible, large diameter suction hose. It's like a slinky with a covering. Pull it a long distance from the vacuum without pulling the machine along with it. - Surprisingly great hose storage cubby. The entire hose is "swallowed" by the overall box shape of the vacuum unit. Nothing sticks out. - Main body of the vacuum, the plastic box, seems very stout. Much thicker than a 5 gal bucket. Good mating, seal, and latches between the upper and lower halves, where the filter and sucked up junk lives. - Sucks the chrome off a trailer hitch, as they'd say in the south. It's got tons of power. You can blow leaves with it in reverse. CONS- - (No longer a con, see below) Wand storage brackets add maybe 4 inches to the width of the unit. If you don't use the wands, it would be great to be able to remove the brackets and make the overall footprint smaller. Perhaps that's possible and I haven't found the fastening scheme yet. EDIT - I have found the fastening scheme for the wand hooks. Very simple. Just separate the two halves of the vacuum, like you're checking the filter, and look into the area where the hooks live. It's real obvious. Stick a flat blade screwdriver in there and pry the little tab and remove the brackets. Reinstall any time, they just click into place. - Cord storage hooks are on the short side of the unit, very close together, and nearly flush with the bottom of the vacuum. You can't wrap the cord while the vacuum sits on the floor. To wrap the cord requires either picking up the vacuum in one hand and wrapping cord with the other, or placing the vacuum on the edge of a bench, with the cord wrap area hanging off the edge. I'd like to see the cord wrap hooks higher and farther apart (less wraps to secure the cord). Perhaps mounted on the long side of the vacuum instead of the short end. Perhaps even interchangeable with the wand mount brackets. The pros far outweigh the cons for my application. I'm happy with mine. ... show more

  • Small, quieter than most, easy to store but low suction with hose extensions
For me, small storage size and maneuverability are my primary decision factors. I use it mostly for sanding large woodworks, small plastering projects inside the house (like wood panel walls, furniture cabinet build-in-place & restoration). This DeWalt hits the mark for me and it's way more quite than the beasty shop vacs. I use only the standard filter cartridge plus a paper canister liner, the exhaust doesn't spew a lot of fine dust which is important for me too. There are downsides to consider in this choice: 1. The included 6' hose is flexible but useless for me (too short to reach especially vertical sanding trim on walls) 2. I use a Cen-Tec Systems 94709 extension hose (16 feet), it fits properly on the DeWalt inlet. 3. Suction is strong enough for using orbital sander with the extension hose, but the motor can emit a strong "burning smell" unless I open a bypass hole in the hose adapter to let more air into the unit. 3. This DeWalt WON'T suck up big chunks of plaster & lathe & nails like my old 9-gallon beast. (That's OK for my use case, but set your expectations accordingly.) 4. My main criticism is that when using the 16' hose extension, suction air flow is OK for most of the nozzle attachments, but fairly weak with the floor nozzle. Floor nozzle only good for lightweight fine dust/small wood shavings. Also similar weak suction flows if I use the provided 6' DeWalt hose with the provided rigid wand...hardly picks up staples, not screws or nails. Overall I love and recommend this vacuum for it's small size, easy to pack away, relative quiet, portability. ... show more
