  • High quality Dewalt brad nailer
Style: Brad Nailer Kit
Great high quality dewalt tool. I needed a 18 gauge brad nailer and for the price this was a great buy considering a bunch of cheap Chinese tools were around the same price. It has worked great, I used it to build some nice cabinets. Nice reliable nailer

  • Perfect for Novice or Experienced Craftsperson
Style: Brad Nailer Kit
I wish I had purchased a pneumatic nailer decades ago. My thumbs and the heels of both hands would have appreciated not using hammers and manual push type nailing devices to install shoe moulding. I delayed because I had "only" 50-60 feet at a time to install. Working on a project with 400-500 linear feet of shoe moulding to install, against baseboards which had not been properly nailed to the wall (studs) or not even nailed at all, I was looking for a simple, fast, and efficient way to nail finger-joint, MDF and regular wooden baseboard to the sole-plate and to studs before installing MDF shoe moulding. I started with the old hammer, nail-set, brad-pusher method I had used, but it was obvious that with a home constructed using today's slam-bam move-on construction methods, I needed something to quickly drive nails into a shoddily framed home. By that I mean studs on 14", 16", 24" centers, incomplete sole plates at the bottom of the wall board, etc. Stuff that when using a conventional hammer and finish nails is beat to a pulp or the wallboard is loosened by continual hammering, and on and on. I am SO HAPPY that I did the research to purchase a top-quality list of items to put together an easy to use nailing rig. I will list these items at the end, but back to this Brad Nailer review. It arrived quickly (fulfillment by Amazon Prime). Nicely packaged in the injection molded plastic cases included with many DeWalt tools and some brads to get you started. A quick look at the instructions, load with nails, and start nailing. I took some scrap lumber and shot about 10 nails into it to get a feel for aiming, power and depth setting. Everything worked perfectly out of the box. Dirt-something-simple. I was delighted. For the shoe moulding, I was working with 1" brads. 90 pounds of air-pressure and the factory depth setting was perfect to leave a tiny hole in the MDF with the brad top about a 1/16" below moulding surface. For areas where the baseboard needed to be nailed down, I moved to 2 1/4" brads, upped air-pressure to 100 lbs., and clicked the depth setting two-clicks deeper. Easy to read and understand icons let you know exactly which way to turn the detent wheel (forward of the trigger on the underside of the gun) to raise or lower brad depth. It was wonderful to pull the baseboard tight against the wallboard - with just a click of the trigger! In reading nail gun reviews, dry-firing is evidently bad and can damage the hammering mechanism. This unit has an easily visible yellow tab which disappears when you are out of brads/nails. You have to look at it, but since it is easily visible as you align the nailing head, it is easily seen, so not a problem to remember to keep your gun loaded. I know it sounds like I am in marketing for DeWalt, but I promise I am not associated with the company in any way. In an age when so much junk exists, being badged with names which used to mean American quality, this is a reminder that you can find quality from a long-standing American icon, even IF it is manufactured in Asia. After using this nailer on the baseboard, I felt confident enough to go back and pull the trim materials from most of the door-frames in order to straighten and renail. Angle nailing into 1/2" pre-hung door frames was easy, and generally I was able to sink nails exactly where I needed them. My daughter's home now looks as good as any custom home - at least from the woodwork, which is a major part of a home's appearance. Have no trepidation if you have a moulding project to do. This nailer is easy to load. Easy to use. Runs plenty good with a smaller compressor that I have and much cheaper than the battery powered ones

  • Don't buy the cheaper options
Style: Brad Nailer Kit
My trusty Porter Cable BN200 finally quit on me. It is probably about 20-25 years old so it put in a lot of good years. I needed something immediately and tried the Metabo brad nailer that was cheaper than the dewalt purely because it could be delivered the same day. I shot a handful of 2" nails, or rather, I attempted to shoot a handful of nails with the Metabo and half of them needed to be manually set with a hammer (and yes depth setting was maxed out, pressure was fine). Anyway boxed it up for return and ordered this gun. I already have a smaller Dewalt brad nailer that I like a lot so I wasn't worried, just needed to wait a day to get it. So I finished trimming out my coffered ceiling, maybe shot 200-300 2" brads and not one jam, misfire or nail I needed to set manually. Also, depth was perfect from taking it out of the box, pressure and setup identical to what I used with Metabo. I leave it up to you to draw some sort of conclusion or moral to this story. ... show more
