I've used this quite a bit in the last few weeks to make some drywall cuts, but mostly for sanding and rotating triangles to finish out the edging around the walls of our home as we are refinishing floors. I don't know if it's supposed to be used nearly non-stop for hours at a time, but that's what I've been doing for a couple of weekends and, even if it broke tomorrow, helping me get those dang detail sanding jobs done around the house would be well worth the price I paid. I look forward to using it on some other projects coming up and have bought some Diablo cutting attachments for some DIY's that I anticipate having to trim through a few nails and screws. I'm very pleased with the power and performance thus far and doubt it will have any problems with anything new I throw at it after the abuse I've given it with these floors. ... show more

It's solidly made with the power to quickly slice through whatever. My buddy has a Ridged brand. The Dewalt has much less vibration, more powerful, and is slimmer and easier to hang on to. Love this thing.

Ok, take this for what it's worth - never have owned or used a tool like this and this review is basically based on two days of usage. I mainly bought this to remove grout and after reading about all this tool can do I decided to invest in a moderately expensive one for other uses down the road. Have had good luck with Dewalt so went with it based on reviews. So far, very pleased. The tool is very user friendly. The grout removing tool I bought fit perfectly and is working like a charm. The grout is coming out beautifully with little effort. I use the tool flipped, with the grinding head up. I also hold the hose of my small shop-vac underneath to draw away the dust. With ear protection the sound isn't too bad. It is a hefty tool, but it also feels well-built. Very easy to finesse into hard to reach places. I bought this tool to cut trim below doors for tiling projects. It works very good for that. But it can do a whole lot more. I have used it for sanding, cutting out drywall, cutting electrical box rectangles in drywall. It is pretty versatile and powerful. Neat tool for cutting. Easy to hold and to change the blades. My wife thought I had a chainsaw going when it was on the high setting when cutting drywall. But it has variable speed which is key. After using the sanding pad a few times the mylar velcro hook piece sheared off. it is only glued to the rubber triangular pad. When it comes off the velcro backed loop sandpaper cannot be used. Otherwise a very good tool if all you need is the blades. the sanding pad is junk

Needed this to remove old grout from a ceramic tile floor. With the right cutting blade, this made the job very easy and efficient. The motor is powerful and the design allows for a precise application of force . It’s the right tool for this job and was pleasantly surprised at the potential of this device for other uses. The thing about buying battery powered tools is that pretty much you buy into the battery design. So, I waited for a while trying to figure out the market. In the meantime I bought a few, of different makers with, aha!, incompatible batteries. Anyhow, eventually I decided that Dewalt makes very good tools... so I have slowly replaced all of my old ones. And, once I settle on the type, I started to buy the larger batteries. So, it's nice to be able to buy the tools without the battery, as I get the batteries when they go on sale. I got like 8 batteries by now, in 3/5A ranges. And I got my eye on the bigger 20/60V BIG batteries... I think I "need" a radial saw now.. ;-D Anyhow, this particular tool, plus the drill/driver set and a Dremel is pretty much all the tools a typical homeowner would need to make repairs. With the 3A batteries it goes for a long time... with the 5A it goes longer than you should - lest you do things that you will need to pay a pro to undo...;-).
