    • Pretty good joist drill
This thing is a pretty good joist drill, it's got an absolute ton of power to drill through joists with easy. It will chew through batteries pretty quick though, so make sure you have plenty of high capacity batteries for it!

    • Allows to drill in tighter spaces
I own the flex volt 60V joist stud and drill which is heavy and quite large. This joist stud drill is much smaller and allows me to drill in between wall studs to install NM-B cable also know as Romex which is a brand. The 7/16in hex quick change chuck makes switching between bits easy. No key like I need with my 60V flex volt joist stud drill. This is also brushless as most tools nowadays are but I still own quite a few tools that are not. Brushless are always smoother. Overall, I'm very pleased with this tool as I'm some what of a tool "collector""hoarder" etc... whatever you want to call me. LOL. ... show more

    • It's a handful, but it sure is powerful
Every Dewalt tool I have seems to be of higher overall quality than most of my other tools. This is no different. It doesn't feel cheaply made at all. This thing has a ton of power. It will happily drill through anything I toss at it. It is basically a portable drill press that you hold. That kind of thing could be a bit dangerous with this much power, except this one will shut down if it binds. If it didn't, it probably has the power to break your arm. I used a hole saw bit in walnut, and I used quite a few different drill bits to drill random things. It did great in all scenarios. The only time I managed to get it to bind and stop was entirely my fault. I was using a hole saw and I pushed it in too far. I was trying to get it to bind. It did, but the anti-bind worked great so everything was fine. Battery life will vary wildly. I tried a cheap, knockoff battery and it was missing a bar after 10 holes. I used a genuine Dewalt 9Ah battery and I wore myself out before I used up a bar. The battery you use will make a difference in power, but it's only really noticeable when you compare some random brand battery to a real power Powerstack back to back. It will have plenty of power using whatever, but if you want the most power, use a Powerstack. ... show more

This tool is a beast!! Makes quick work of drilling holes for electrical wires or small plumbing pipes. Lightweight enough to be able to hold without making your arms too tired. But powerful for sure. It is a must have for home improvement jobs
