So my friend has an older brushed Dewalt drill and I have always admired it during projects. certainly better than my old 18v Black & Decker. When I saw this listing I put it on my wish list and finally bought it. I got a chance to use it this weekend when my friend and I worked on his basement drilling studs, running wire and drywalling. I was able to compare my new one to his old one. This new Dewalt Drill is shorter in length (little more compact). However his was slightly thinner but not by much and they were the same height. Weight wise they are about the same and its slightly heavier than my old Black And Decker. It worked flawlessly and even my friend used it and said he liked it better than his. It has plenty of power and handled everything we through at it. My friend was especially jealous that the battery had an indicator on it. After all the use this weekend, my battery still has 2 out of 3 bars on it! Awesome! This is a great little kit and a wonderful drill! ... show more

Three small things I don't like. The LED light doesn't shine right on the spot you want to drill, the adjustable slip clutch is made with plastic teeth on the clutch. I wore the clutch out on my first Compact 20V Dewalt drill. When the clutch is shot the drill is junk. But don't worry, the clutch lasts a long time. To make the clutch last longer, don't use it if not needed. Use the setting for drilling when ever you can. The third thing I don't like is Dewalt went cheep and didn't give a small holder for a screw drive bit with the drill! Can't believe it. I loved this holder on my first Dewalt. Yes, I would buy again. I just bought 2 new compact 20v Dewalt drills this month. ... show more

This little drill is amazing and came in exactly as described! Of course it’s Dewalt so you can’t go wrong. The bag to carry it in was a great bonus and I was able to fit the drill, battery AND still had room left for bits and small stuff! Great value for this drill!

I've been using this drill every day since I got it almost 2 weeks ago, to drive 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" construction screws to frame out some walls. The batteries have been lasting a good long time considering the use they're getting. Charging is quick enough that I haven't had to stop and wait for a battery to finish charging. The drill seems to have all the power and torque I need, although I haven't tried using it for any heavy duty drilling yet. I'm hoping it'll be able to handle drilling holes with a paddle bit through a couple of 2x4s so I can run wiring without having to use an extension cord in a crawlspace anymore. That's been the one shortcoming of the Ridgid drill I've been using the past couple of years, and the biggest reason I've come back to Dewalt. I did drop this drill from a stepladder,onto a concrete floor today, and it landed hard enough to send the screwdriver bit flying out of the bit holder. But when I picked it up and put the bit back in, it worked fine and hadn't shown any damage. As far as ergonomics, most of the cordless drills I've used over the past 10 years or so have been pretty comfortable to work with. This one is no exception. The keyless chuck has been flawless so far. But I haven't used it with any small drill bits yet. I also really like the built in LED worklights. They work very well, and are located where they actually shed light on the project without being completely blocked out by your hands as you try to work, which is what always seems to happen with my old Makita. I don't care for the charger, which feels cheap and is a PITA to get the batteries in and out of compared to every other one I've ever used. And I've been using cordless drills a lot since the late 80s. The other thing I'm not crazy about is the carrying bag that comes with the kit. It seems to be sturdy enough. But I have to take the battery out of the handle to fit the drill into it. And it's still like a puzzle to get my drill bits and the drill, charger and batteries in and get the zipper to close. I'm happy that Dewalt does still include the bag with this drill kit, since some others don't give you anything at all. But this bag would not have been my first choice for this drill kit. First of all because it's hard to get everything to fit into it at all, and also because you have to take everything out of it to find anything because you can't see into it very well. Everything gets put together like a puzzle to get it in, which means it's just as much of a pain to get it out. It's also an awkward shape that doesn't allow it to fit neatly into my truck with my other drills. I much prefer the flat rectangular drill bags that allow me to arrange everything easily inside the bag and then fit into a smaller space standing on edge. In all, I'm very happy with the tool itself. And as long as the charger doesn't crap out on me, I can live with the other minor inconveniences because the drill is a pleasure to work with. ... show more

Very compact but still powerful. Great drill. Only things I could complain about is it doesn't have a slot to hold my philips bit while I'm using a drill bit, and the light doesn't really seem to shine where it needs too very well. This is really nit picking though, for the price with a battery, charger, and bag included, you can't go wrong. ... show more
