So, I have only just set it up and used it once, but I have some opinions already. I am tired of buying a new upright vacuum every few year that sucks up socks and clogs, etc. So I decided to get this as my home vacuum. I am going to get a long extension hose so I can reach my whole house. So far, I used the provided brush attachment on my carpet and it worked quite well. Not as well as an upright with a powered brush roll, but mostly adequate. Everything else it does FAR better then an upright, other then it's maneuverability, hence the 20 foot extension hose I will get. This thing is loud, but quieter then others of similar size. It sucks incredibly well, even sucked up the dead leaves in my entryway. This thing will take on anything. I will edit if anything changes. My only complaint, it on the power cord, at the plug end, there is a little half circle thing meant to grab onto the other end of the cord. Almost all vacuums have this. But on this machine the plug ends half circle is too small to be of use. ... show more

I'm a general Contractor and im a dewalt man through and through and we use this machine daily in some pretty nasty situations. Its extremely powerful and hasn't let us down yet. I did away with the handle and attachment bag to slim it down a little and take up a little less real estate in the truck. The filter has held up well for me but I haven't seen any sold at lowes or hd so I assume they have to be ordered which is kind of a negative but it's been going for a good long while and still cleans easy with no tears yet. It was very easy to put together, most of them look like the same idea, you screw on the wheels, you put the bag in, you stow the accessories, and you plug it in and use it. This one had the extra little caddy for the accessories so I like that. I read a number of reviews online, this was one that was reviewed. They pointed out that many vacs tended to have issues with sealing around the motor part to the body and losing suction as a result, but the DeWalt had a superior seal. One of the reasons I leaned toward this one. There were not really many negatives, if any... I can say after seeing this one for myself, it has a good seal where the motor and the body meet, so the suction advantage is undeniable. As soon as I got this together I attached the hose and went all over my basement sucking up anything that didn't belong the the floor. Dead bugs, far too many wood shavings from my drill press, any debris I was tired of looking at from months past when I was still just dreaming of replacing my shop vac (my old Ridgid vac was lost due to a fire - and no, not one caused by the vac). Time will tell whether this unit lasts, as I have only used it a couple times, but I still trust DeWalt. They've never given me a reason to doubt any of their tools. I recently purchased the 9 gal dewalt Shop vac and loved it. But due to my wood work shop and dust collection I decided to buy another one to have 2 so I can keep one stationary in my multi saw work bench I built and another one for the shop floor. I ran across this one on sale while browsing so I purchased it. All I had to do when delivered was put a screw in the casters (wheels) and off to the shop floor it went. First thing I noticed is how much bigger the hose was compared to my other one. Then I plugged it in and started cleaning away. When I tell you this machine has sucking power it’s and under statement. Anything the size of ur hand or smaller not stationery is getting sucked up. Guarantee it. It works so good and is so easy to maneuver I was actually having fun sweeping anything and everything in my way. The crossbar handle to move the unit around was genius and is a great to use instead of pulling on the hose like I usually do on my other one 🤷🏻♂️. Dewalt definitely did not disappoint me here. This vacuum is amazing. I used it on everything from vacuuming dried mortar, wood chips, tile spacers (I was too lazy to pick them up) and it just kept going and going. I especially like how solid the filter is. Every once in a while take it out and tap it against something to get all the dirt and debris off. One interesting thing though. About a month into using this, one day as I was about to cut some baseboards, I turned the vac on and it briefly turned on then completely died. I went as far as removing the motor and trying to turn it on directly and it sparked and shut off. Then after putting it all back together it miraculously works. I did request a replacement bc I’m sure it was a fluke or something. Apart from that little issue, this vacuum is amazing. Also, don’t get offended all you PETA people out there. I didn’t actually vacuum a cat...smh ... show more

For years i have been using a small form shop vac. It only had a 2.5 gal capacity so it kept filling up. With my acquisition of a thickness planer i found this small capacity was not high enough. So i found this gem as a potential replacement and it didnt dissappoint. In regards to suction ghis vaccum is top notch. Even with a wide attatchment, i did not lose suction power. The very next time i used my planner it handled all the chips with no issues. Even when the vaccum hit capacity i didnt even notice a significant drop in sucction. If i were to point out one flaw it would be mobility. This vaccum has 2 stationary wheels and 2 rotary wheels, so at times it gets caught on the edge of a table or wall when im cleaning my floor. However what it lacks in mobility it makes up in in a smooth ride. This vaccum takes no effort to move and the wheels are fluid. When i move it moves with little to no resistance. In regards to the build it feels durable and firm and im certain it will last for years to come. I definitely recommend this vaccum! ... show more

Easy to put together. Very sturdy. Nice on-board implements to hold attachments, secure the cord/hose, etc. Great suction. Not terribly loud. Handle and larger rear wheels make it much easier to maneuver than any other vac I have owned. Another great Dewalt product.
