The media could not be loaded. The Desview R6 Monitor is a great tool, with all the features you could ask for. The touch screen is very sensitive and the menu is easy to navigate. It comes with a SD card loaded with Luts that can be transferred to the monitor, so you can see what a final color grade might look like. This is great if you have a client /producer/director looking at the shot out of the camera and you want them to see a more finished look. The card also has color temperature presets so you can match your camera settings and get accurate color rendition. But the best thing about the R6 how bright it is, 2800 nits! It is very easy to see outside in bright sun. This brightness does come at a cost, it uses a lot of power, it will go through a Canon LP-E6 battery pretty fast, so if you are going to use it outside best to use a high capacity NP type battery. Also because of the brightness and the heat it produces the R6 is equipped with a fan for cooling. It does make some noise so take that into consideration with your mic placement. There are controls in the menu to to adjust the fan speed or turn it off completely for silent operation. Having a fan also means there are vents in the monitor case, so take care in wet environments outside as it is not weather sealed. So to sum up: The Desview R6 Monitor is bright, sharp, has power options, has all the features, Zebras, Focus Peaking, Wave Forms, Audio Meters, Head Phone Monitoring,Grids and Luts. This monitor works great! The size is perfect for me to record myself for YouTube videos! The build quality is solid for being made out of plastic. The screen also comes with a screen protector already installed which is such a great plus! When there is a direct power source using a plug you must hold the power button to turn on the monitor but with a battery as soon as it’s in place on the back the monitor turns on. I must say I wish the battery already came with the monitor especially when there is a deal to add it for only an extra $5. I also wish it came with a protective sleeve or case so it’s not damaged when storing or transporting it. Also the cold shoe mount is not the best and I recommend buying something separately to attach it to your camera, like a magic arm with a cold shoe. The touch screen is very responsive unlike other monitors and is very bright. The monitor is very usable outside and I love the short cut to brighten the screen. I must say right out of the box the colors on the screen are a bit off you will have to adjust a few settings to get it right. When using the monitor to film yourself you can flip the screen horizontally in the settings but just remember that not only will it flip you but also the words and settings shown on the screen. ... show more

The monitor is everything I needed to film an photograph outdoors. It's extremely bright and I love the touch screen and all the zebras and histograms but.... the included mounting bracket is horrible! It will not tighten up allowing the monitor to fall off which led to the screen getting scratched up. Buy another mount. ... show more

Overall I am impressed with this monitor for the price point. There's a few things holding it back from being 100% professional, but it's got some killer features at this price point. First impression - the monitor is incredibly lightweight, even with a battery attached. The build quality seems like it could withstand a couple moderate drops. Upon powering on I was impressed with the accurate, detailed image and responsive touchscreen. The brightness does not live up to the hype, would estimate it closer to 1200nits but once again it's great for the price point. There is also noticeable lag through HDMI, though should not affect usage unless for critical applications. The monitor features anamorphic desqueeze, frame guides, safety markers, crosshairs, grids, false color, zebras, LUT viewing, and decent control of image color. Overall I found it a much better fit with my A7iii than my BMPCC cinema rig. Worth a look! ... show more

One of the biggest features of the R6 is the screen brightness. At 2800nit you can see the screen under bright sun light without any problem. And the best thing is that you can quickly adjust the screen brightness by swiping up and down on the left side of the screen. Swiping the right side of the screen would change the volume. You can use either Sony NP-F battery or canon e6. There is an active fan inside the monitor and the fan noise can be picked up by the camera build-in mic. The fan speed can be set to low, medium, high, auto, or complete turned off in the settings. I usually turn it off when I’m using the camera build-in mic. Things that could be improved: Loading the lut file is easy enough. However it seems like I can only add more lut files. I still can’t figure out how to replace lut files in the monitor. The included cold shoe monitor mount lacks panning movement. All in all this is a very good budget field monitor. It is built from good quality plastic and has all the exposure assist you need.
