We could have easily sized down by one. Though, larger means she can wear it longer. This is what I expected. Seems true to size. My daughter is thrilled. We sized up to a large (10-12) so that my average sized 8 year old could wear street clothes underneath for warmth during trick or treating.

Some of the Velcro tabs on this are flimsy, just like most costumes. My daughter found it to be a little itchy. It was literally the same costume as in the stores though. I like the costume and the weight of the fabric; lightweight but not sheer; soft and not like many of the thin stiff fabric used for many Halloween costumes. My six year old granddaughter was delighted with her Halloween costume. We accessorized it with a wig and crown ensemble.

My daughter insisted on this costume and although it looks close to the picture, the quality is nothing great. Overall, pretty cheaply made. She was happy with it, which is all that mattered but I would not purchase this again.

My daughter is small for her age, she turns 9 in 2 months, and weighs 53 pounds, so I got the 7/8 which usually fits her great, but this is way too big. We will need to send it back and get the 5/6 for my 8-year-old. lol. Usually Halloween costumes are bigger than normal, but this is even bigger than the normal Halloween costume. ... show more
