  • Working Fine on OSX Big Sur at 5120 * 2160
Love this monitor. Have a 2019 Mac Pro driving this monitor plus two 4K displays. Only had it a week, but the extra screen real estate has already increased my productivity which is why I got it. Far more than I thought. I had held off on getting a monitor like this as the vertical resolution on available monitors wasn't high enough. At 5120 * 2160 this is the same vertical resolution as. 4K display. I use the monitor at the native settings and have no trouble reading text (I'm 63 with the eyesight of a 63-year-old). There is a big difference between multiple flat panels and one larger curved monitor - no bezels is a huge difference. I don't play video games so the 60 hz setting is fine for what I do. While the monitor is bright enough, it is not as bright as the $5,000 Apple Pro display. Then again, it is not $5,000. If someone stole it, I'd replace it the next day. ... show more

  • Heaven for programmers writing code
I am a software develop and I upgraded from a 27" 4k display to the Dell U4021QW and I am very pleased. I can have 3-4 windows of code up. Text is crisp and easy to read. The built-in KVM and Window positioning software works well on my Mac. I have not run into firmware bugs as mentioned in earlier reviews. ... show more

  • I really want to love this monitor but right now I can't
I've been a loyal Dell customer for their monitors for about 20 years now. I had 2 4k dell ultrasharp monitors but honestly that was just too large a field of view and I decided to save some desk space and try this monitor out. The way I think about it there's two important things you need to know about this monitor- first off, make sure you have a great stand or that you get a really good stand from Dell. This monitor is so wide that it's very easy for one side to just gently droop a little lower than the other side- you won't see that first, but then you'll just start obsessing about it because it will slowly drive you mad lol. Obviously as you can imagine the stand I got that was packed in with the monitor wasn't strong/tight enough to keep the monitor level- there's a lot of give or sway at the edges. Also the other thing you have to ask yourself, or just get yourself to a Mac store is whether you want a very large monitor with an average DPI like this one or you want like the mac studio display which is smaller but the DPI is glorious. I'm a programmer, I don't do video editing or work with a lot of images or stuff like that- but I will admit that even though this monitor is great for the space and stuff, DPI matters and if you have the money to buy the Mac studio display that thing just trashes this. It's not just the studio display, for example I have a 16" m1 MacBook pro - I find myself spending a lot more time looking at that screen than this one. So, should you buy this monitor? For work definitely. The 5k width is incredibly useful, the fact that it's 5k2k means that most graphics cards out there can drive it easily. I run Linux on my desktop and it has no problem identifying and driving the monitor at the highest resolution. It's a great way to replace a dual monitor setup with a seamless display that stretches across your entire field of vision. That said, you won't find yourself wanting to sit down in front of it and just saying wow! The DPI this monitor has is just not that great once you've seen the retina displays. ... show more

  • Best Ultra-wide Monitor Money Can Buy (For Now)
I personally use my MBP 16 inch with this monitor and it works like a charm. I scale it down to the highest setting to have more real estate and the clarity is still amazing. I would recommend anyone looking for an ultrawide to go with this monitor. If you're not playing FPS games you could still game on this but this is meant to be a productivity monitor at the end of the day. ... show more

  • Monitor Flickers when using Zoom - M1 Mac 2020
The media could not be loaded. I bought this monitor for an M1 Macbook Pro 2020 and for the first 7 days the monitor worked perfectly but after that, I started having issues with the monitor flickering and losing color. I tested out two different Thunderbolt cables just to make sure it wasn't my computer having issues and after testing out both cables, I still experience display flickering. The flicker seems to happen when using Zoom and sharing video or screen. I have disableed hardware acceleration on zoom for video and screening share. This seems to work but I am not sure yet. I am thinking about returning the item due to this. Update: after disabling Zoom hardware acceleration and I decided to test if the monitor flickers with a 45 minute zoom meeting. After 10 minutes on a Zoom call flickering started to happen as soon as participant shared their screen or I shared my. I will be returning this monitor Devices used to test monitor Model: M1 Mac mini 245GB SSD & Memory: 8 GB Model: M1 MacBook Pro 500GB SSD & Memory: 18 GB Monitored flickered on each device. • Much better than two monitors
I use this monitor to work on scientific images. It's much better than anything I've ever had before. At first, I connected it with a Displayport 1.2 cable (not recommended, not in spec) and it would occasionally go black for a few seconds while doing video or zoom, and then come back. I changed to the recommended Displayport 1.4 cable and it's fine. I am extremely satisfied. I don't know anything about gaming, I don't do it. ... show more

  • Flickers and LCD burned in after light use
Had the monitor for less than a week. Used at 30% brightness and for less than 8 hours a day. When turned on, had constant change in windows and used screensaver. Nevertheless, when I would attend Zoom meetings, the screen would flicker. Then after an hour on one Zoom meeting, the LCD burned in the image of the pdfs and the zoom screen that I had up for less than 30 minutes—again, at 30% brightness. Used with Macbook Air M1 connected by Thunderbolt. Returning and not getting a replacement. I'm going to the more time-tested LG. ... show more
