  • A great monitor with some caveats
First, I bought this so I can have an external monitor for my 16" MBP. It comes with a USB-C connection that can deliver up to 90W! The experience was plug and play, with no issues. The picture quality is solid even if the monitor is not exactly HiDPI - this is the probably one of the best panels you can buy until external monitors with extremely high pixel densities are available. One thing to be aware of is that if you use screensharing applications, such as Slack, Webex, etc., is that unlike a dual monitor setup where you would share one (smaller) screen, you will need to share the giant wide screen format of this monitor, or share a single application, which is for some reason scaled poorly for the people on the other end. Hopefully someday screen sharing applications will allow you to share a region of a screen to work around this; I don't really consider it a limitation of the monitor itself. I was hoping to buy a monitor that supported the freesync/gsync protocols, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me because I expected to use it with my MBP and I spend far more time working and coding now than I do gaming. The speakers sound reasonable for built-in speakers, but for some reason my MBP can't control their volume via USB-C. My other devices can control them, but via HDMI. The volume can be controlled on the monitor itself, but this is clunky. Connectivity is otherwise quite good, with support for all popular connections (HDMI, DP, etc.). The box they are transported in is well built. I highly recommend keeping the box for future transport. I ended up using it so I can work remotely from other locations during the pandemic, which made the built-in speakers a plus (one less thing to carry). You do need to be careful when placing it in or removing it from the box, since the fairly thin bezel means it is easy to possibly damage or smudge the screen. Use the mount as shown in the unboxing instructions, following the same procedure in reverse if you box them up again. My father rightly used to say that the monitor is one place you don't want to skimp on - it is the highest bandwidth interface between you and the machine. He was right, and while much more expensive than two monitors, this monitor excels at that and has some nice features to boot; so 4/5 stars for value/$ at the current price, 3/5 for the original price of $750. I think a 5 star price would be around $500-$550. ... show more

  • Probably the best looking LCD I’ve seen yet.
Well, there’s monitors with high refresh rates and monitors like this one which are factory calibrated for color accuracy. After going for quality over quantity, I can gladly say high refresh rates are overrated. Everyone who sees games running on this thing are shocked. Deeper blacks, brighter whites, and color accuracy and a nice color gamut. This is as good as an LCD will get. Until us PC guys get OLED or microLED, this is what we have to live with. In the end, it is worth it for my system. As a bonus , productivity is far easier now. It’s like dual monitors without the problems dual monitors bring. And, USB C is a nice addition. Tried it with a MacBook. Works perfect. Switches my keyboard and mouse right over to the laptop from my desktop. Another plus. And, you can switch between the two or do a Picture in Picture split screen. Well thought out here. ... show more

  • An amazing monitor!
Absolutely gorgeous monitor and display! I love the size as it provides so much screen space for documents and browsers. I usually open word with 3 or 4 pages showing side by side, plus a webpage or two and can read every word. The dell software makes it super simple to set display windows any way you desire. So much sharper than my 27” 1080p monitor. Has a nice anti-glare finish and is bright with beautiful colors. Decent sound for or a monitor. The adjustability is perfect as I love that it can easily be raised or lowered, as well as tilted and rotated. The built in USB hub is super nice! Plenty of usb 3 connections, including 1 USB C. This is a huge upgrade for anyone with a normal one or two monitor setup. In my opinion beats two monitors side by side hands down. ... show more

  • Good monitor - With proviso about Audio from Macs
This is a nice wide monitor with good color and a sharp display. I used to have an iMac (with monitor built-in) and a second Dell monitor, but recently bought a new Mac Mini, which comes with no monitor. I decided to go with this 34-inch wide monitor instead of setting up two monitors. It works well, but dang, it's pricey. There's one BIG downside which is Apple's fault, not this monitor. I've lost all control of the audio via the keyboard volume controls. Apple Care Support confirms that Volume Up and Down buttons don't work with monitors connected via HDMI or USB-C cables. TIP: However, Apple discussion forums have a solution buried in them: Command-Up Arrow or Command-Down Arrow accomplishes the same thing as the volume buttons on the keyboard. It's baffling why Apple won't configure the main buttons that way since it's possible. ... show more
