  • Excellent Monitor!
Wow! I've only used this a few days but so far I'm extremely impressed. Accurate proper colors which seem harder to find now days. I use it for streaming Netflix, Prime, Hulu etc as a bedroom TV as well as graphics and photo editing as a monitor. I've been using a very old Ultrasharp 20" for 15 years (cost a fortune back in the day). I've replaced it twice but the new monitors always were blown out with saturation I couldn't tune out so I would go back to the 'old' one just for the picture quality. This Dell has that quality. It's also extremely attractive with the ultra thin bezel. At this price I don't think you can do better. At full retail maybe, but at this Amazon deal I don't think so. Pros: - Awesome accurate color and image reproduction - Very attractive (I have it in a corner of my bedroom) - Audio output to external speakers (you can use multiple source connections like a Firestick and still get audio output as well as the PC and any other sources plugged in). 2 channel only of course but USB out audio may be capable of surround if you have an amp or powered speakers with USB in. Haven't tried it or researched it. - Video quality is exceptional as well with minimal or no speed issues (blurring etc) that I've noticed. - Comes with DisplayPort and Mini-DisplayPort connectors. - A lot of adjustablity and an eco-meter. I keep it turned down in a dark room, but it will go insanely bright. Not sure the actual power draw at these settings but with IPS I doubt it's much. - The 2560x1440 resolution is perfect for this 27" IMO. Reading is no issue, everything is sharp without pixelation like a 1920x1080 would, yet without things being to small like higher res screen would be. - Blacks are very good. Better than I thought they would be. Contrast is excellent. - Tilt, rotate and height adjustable! Mandatory for my needs where I use it as a monitor and turn it to watch TV while in bed. Cons: - Feels cheap. My old Ultrasharp was built like a tank. This thing is light and plasticy but works. Turning it moves the stand unless I hold it down. Adding a pound of weight to the stand would of gone a long way. It gets the job done though. How often do you touch a monitor? - I really wish it had two HDMI inputs instead of multiple DisplayPorts. I have to get a cheap card with DisplayPort to use a Firestick in the HDMI. I assume since it's not a gaming monitor but an enterprise business monitor. - That's literally it. I absolutely love this thing. Hope it holds up for years like my old Ultrasharp. - Can't speak for gaming on it. 6MS I think should be fine. I use a console and a 70" tv for gaming. ... show more

  • Good overall, accurate colors, insane backlight bleeding
This is a pretty good monitor. I got it because I needed a monitor for professionally editing photos and it was clear with moody low-key photos that the blacks were impossible to get right with my old monitor. I got this one because it was generally considered a good, professional option with the IPS spec. The monitor comes color corrected from the factory and the colors are excellent. If you are editing mid or high key photos this will suit you just fine but issues start to arise when getting into the low key very dark photos. It's absolutely noticeable to a large degree. The photos attached are in a *completely dark room* with virtually no light interference. The dark images are a pure black image maxed in Photoshop, the bright one is pure white. The black is CLEARLY not black, there's severe light bleeding on almost 50 percent of the screen. The white is less noticeable but the bottom of the screen has a dark gradient fade over the bottom inch or so of the screen. It's fairly tolerable, but still really annoying and something I expect to be resolved when paying $400 for a monitor. It's also highly reflective when displaying anything darker than grey which makes editing dark images increasingly irritating. Is it a decent monitor? Sure. Is it good by professional standards? No. Whats the best thing above this? $3,000 OLED screen. Will this do fine for most people? Probably, but I'm picky. I expected more. I have a 120hz 4k OLED TV and it's likely spoiled me in terms of pure blacks and color accuracy. These IPS monitors are likely to get phased out once OLED monitors become mainstream in a few years. It's unfortunate, but this is probably still your most affordable choice with guaranteed color accuracy for now even at what I consider 3 stars. ... show more

  • Good quality monitor but matte anti-glare coating seems to impact image contrast and viewing angles - Please Make a Glossy One!
Overall a good monitor, backlight bleed was lower than I expected from an IPS panel, no dead or stuck pixels. Good feature set with the side mounted USB ports. I particularly like the fact that this has an internal power supply, none of those power bricks. The issue I had with this monitor I think was the anti-glare coating (more of a matte finish, with maybe a low gloss to it). It may be the panel, but it seemed that the coating interfered mightily with the image quality. It reduces reflections and glare, but it also seemed to really affect the contrast of the image, especially at wider viewing angles. It almost looked like the contrast got washed out - so the colors may have been still "accurate" at the larger angles, but the image was poor. The viewing angles overall were definitely not up 178 degrees as claimed for an IPS panel, not even close. This overall seemed no better to me than my 10 year old TN panel (which was a glossy HP model - far better looking panel). So overall the image was a bit washed out looking and I tried to adjust the image with the basic controls and I couldn't get a nice deep color/solid blacks etc. I was sort of surprised because I was expecting a leap above my old monitor. It could be that I am used to a glossy monitor which is far better in color/contrast unless you have reflections to deal with. I don't have any issues with reflections so I'll look for a glossy monitor if any still exist... So if you are looking straight on at the monitor, overall it seems like a decent image, but still a little washed out still though even after adjustment. I very much liked the Infinity Edge design, very sleek looking. If they only made this in a glossy version, I would have enjoyed this monitor. ... show more
