  • Quality at a good price
Dell has consistently good monitors. This one has a great looking display panel, bright and sharp. The cords all go down, not straight out the back, and it uses a standard power cord. Assembly is easy, no tools required, and all necessary cables are included. The stand is sturdy and compact. You can adjust height, tilt, and rotation-- although the stand is not tall enough to rotate into a fully vertical orientation. (I never use that anyway so...) I got this for working at home. I really only have room my desk for a single 27-in external monitor for my laptop. With 4K it's the equivalent of four FullHD screens, giving me ample workspace: I can snap four "full screen" windows to the corners. The dot pitch (pixel size) is just large enough for me to read comfortably. Mine has a black bezel, silver stand, and is very light gray on the back, almost white, but then I never look at the back so it really doesn't matter. I recently purchased a 1440p 27-in from another manufacturer. The Dell is better quality and has a much better design. The Dell was also slightly cheaper which makes it a great comparative value. ... show more

  • Favorite monitor of all time
Love love love my monitors. I have two of these (one that charges and one that doesn't so they're not exactly the same model, but they are the same screen). I'm a developer and love how crisp the display is. It has enough adjustability for anything that I do and I don't get terrible glare in it with light behind me. Every time I need to build a new setup I go for these. ... show more

  • Great Value 4K Monitor
The first one that showed up was obviously a used/return and was defective out of the box. Had a horrible flickering and reddish tinge. That's Amazon's fault, not Dell's. The replacement was brand new and worked perfectly. For this price point, you only get a 60Hz refresh rate, and that's just the way it is. I do wish it had a faster refresh rate, perhaps 75Hz would be nice, but again, the competition here is also only 60Hz, so really not a complaint. Besides, a GPU powerful enough to do modern games in 4K resolution is expensive - so if you can afford a video card that can do high refresh rate gaming at 4K, you're probably willing to spend 3x as much on a monitor. I have always liked Dell monitors, this in fact replaces two 1080P Dell monitors. Just like all the other Dell monitors I've bought, this one had no dead or stuck pixels. It offers a high build quality with a fully adjustable stand that can rotate and go up/down - something some competing monitors lack. My only gripe is they should include a DisplayPort cable in addition to the HDMI cable. That's why I'm deducting a star. You might think that's harsh, but some of the competing monitors do include a DP cable, so Dell can do it too. ... show more

  • Great value for a UHD monitor!
For office applications, this UHD monitor performs well. If value is important to you, you likely won't be disappointed. tl;dr When the work you do daily requires a full-time commitment to being in front of a screen to do your job, then the characteristics of that screen can have a substantial impact on your productivity, health, etc. Having used a "standard" HD monitor for quite some time at work, I was starting to find it to be too constraining and difficult to work on. I felt it was time for an upgrade to a UHD/4k monitor. After some research, I settled upon this model, as it scored well on use in an office environment (according to rtings.com), it had consistently high reviews, and it was priced attractively here on Amazon. It also included speakers and a versatile stand, which were nice additional perks that I thought could come in handy. I took the plunge and have not been disappointed. This monitor has met or exceeded all of my expectations for office applications. The picture is clear. I have ample ability to control brightness, contrast, etc. And the refresh rate remains at 60Hz as long as the attached device can support it. The stand allows for all the control that I could ask for in positioning the display, but I've since attached it to a desk-mounted monitor arm which I also really like. I should also mention that having 2 input channels has been very convenient, as it has allowed me to use it as a shared display between different computers. In a pinch, I've even used the speakers on a few occasions; they're not very good, but then again I don't expect them to be. Also, I have used it once as a monitor for a video game console, and I was quite pleased with it. Again, the audio was sub-par, but the picture (including refresh rate) was excellent. For the value, I've been really pleased with this monitor so far. Since I use it primarily for office applications, I can definitely recommend it for that. And as a general-purpose display, it seems to perform well and should not disappoint much. But if you want something that will perform optimally for gaming (especially with high refresh rates), then you will probably not be considering this to begin with. Also, if you want something that has great built-in speakers, I recommend using a TV instead. ... show more

  • Good picture. mediocre sound, and several problems
The first problem I encountered was in assembling the stand. The base and upright are not manufactured properly, so there is not a tight fit between them. This results in the screen wobbling back and forth. Custom service said return it to Amazon. I did and ordered another. (Amazon didn't just replace it at no cost: I had to return and re-order. I'm still waiting for a refund from Amazon for the first monitor.) The second monitor had the same problem, but not quite as bad. To fix the problem, I taped a couple of washers in the gap and that solved the problem. A major inconvenience is that the switching between monitors takes many button clicks to work through the on-screen menu. I switch back and forth between a home and work computer, and this is very annoying. The auto feature is useless when both computers are awake. A second major problem is that the switching between monitors does not work correctly. There are options for DP, HDMI1, HDMI2, and Auto. When set to HDMI1, the monitor would switch to HDMI2 on its own when the HDMI1 computer went to sleep. After waking up the HDMI computer, I would then have trouble reconnecting to the HDMI1 computer, even after switching the input selection. To solve this problem and to speed up the switching process, I bought a high-resolution HDMI switch. Now all I have to do is press one button for the HDMI and one for the USB inputs to switch computers. The audio works OK. It was shipped at half volume, which was too weak, so I went into settings and boosted it to maximum. It works OK for computer work but is too tinny for music. After having done all this, the monitor is working well. The resolution is definitely an improvement over my previous monitor. I can remove speakers from my desktop and listen to music through an Echo device, which is better. (Serious music listening is done elsewhere.) ... show more
