I'm usually quite skeptical about plastic tool boxes. Because of past experiences. However, in this case, most of my immediate concerns went away once I had a chance to inspect the build quality. Here’s a rundown of a few key parameters: ✅ Design: Above Average ✅ Interior Space: Above Average ✅ Plastic Thickness: Above Average ✔︎ Latches: Average ✅ Hinges: Above Average ✅ Handle: Above Average ✅ Structural Integrity: Above Average The weakest link in the overall build are the latches. Here’s why: ❗️The latch pivots on a 2mm metal pivot pin that’s held in place by a simple plastic friction slot. This design is vulnerable to wear, and could be dislodged given sufficient force. ❗️The other moving part in the mechanism is connected to the latch body by lightweight aluminum rivets. They don’t appear to be particularly robust. ✅ To test the weight capacity of the tool box, I loaded it with 15-lbs and noted if the box showed any signs of stress to the structural integrity. For example, any twisting of the body, misalignment of the top and bottom halves, bending of the handle, failure of the latches, etc. To my eye and feel, the tool box handled this amount of weight just fine. And could probably tolerate even more. ✅ As far as the available storage space, the 16-inch version is generous. With a good balance between the interior tray and lower main compartment. Importantly, the interior tray is relatively shallow, and does not interfere with items in the lower compartment. In my experience, this has been an issue with some tool box designs. 👍 RECOMMENDATION 👍 Overall, this 16-inch tool box has an above average build quality, generous storage, excellent weight capacity, and a value price. Any concerns I raised about the latches should not be a problem if the tool box is used within its limits. I'm happy to recommend.

I got this for keeping track of nail gun supplies and screws that seem to disappear regularly (I need a tool butler). It's a nice sturdy little plastic box, it will do nicely. There's a nice lift out tray that is also made of substantially thick plastic and I think if you don't overload this it will last a long time. The latches on the lid close well and aren't going to pop open so you can trust putting items like nails in here and not worrying about them going all over the floor. I think this would be a great go to travel toolbox for just the necessities or to keep in the back of your car. It's definitely a good value. This could be a nice housewarming gift for a new homeowner to pop some basic tools in. I'm really pleased with this item. I do also like the bright yellow it makes it stand out and easy to find.

Some folks have lambasted the size of this little tool box. However, if you click on the pictures provided they give a detailed breakdown of it's size. It was true to size and that was great for me as I have many larger sized tool boxes. I wanted a smaller one to keep in the kitchen and this one fits perfectly in the space I had allocated for that. I took off one star as the materials feel a little on the cheap side for a $20 tool box. Had it been $12, or even $15 I would have given 5 stars. It does what I need it to do I just expected a sturdier box for the price point.

Right now the listing description under "dimensions" for this say "1"L x 1"W x 1"H." Lol. In the pictures it claims to be 14x7x7 which is bogus as well. The inside dimensions are 12 1/4" x 5"x6. If you do the basic multiplication for volume this is way smaller than implied. One can easily find well made, in fact better made. toolboxes that are easier on the wallet and larger. For a simple, small, cheaply made, toolbox that it is, it is not competitive with what is around.
