I'm a big-time woodworker. I've used multiple wood finishes, but Deft is my favorate. On bigger jobs I use my spray gun, but don't like cleaning the gun for smaller projects. The lacquer finish is very durable and looks nice. I usually apply three coats, then do a very light sanding, and apply one more coat. Super smooth finish. The nozzle with this product is also the best I've seen. Surprisingly, I can just let the can sit after use (without trying to clean the nozzle), and it will fine the next time I use it. ... show more

I was looking for something that didn't change the color of raw wood. This was the ticket. The only problem I have is the next time I went to order it, it had almost doubled in price. I think I'll hold off for now.

I bought this to seal a butcher block countertop I'm using as a desktop. The satin finish is a perfect matte look so the wood appears it hasn't been treated at all. Maybe the wood is slightly darker? In any case, the desk looks great. Love it. After applying 3-4 coats, let it dry overnight. Then give it a good rub down with a paper bag to smooth the grain. Oh, and as another reviewer stated, the picture shows the water-based version but the description is accurate and I received the solvent-based version. Very happy with it. ... show more

This product is extremely easy to use and it has a high quality cap for even coverage. The finish is clean and smooth and unlike other finishes you do not have to sand between coats just reapply to the thickness desired and give a final polishing to your liking if you wish. I use rattlecan spray lacquer for guitar projects. Have tried several brands. This is superior to all others. It sprays a nice fine mist with no spitting/ sputtering. It dries within 15 minutes at room temperature (70) and modest humidity levels. The best attribute is how it flows out and settles. When I first used it I tried, on scrap wood, several saturation levels, from light to heavy. No matter how I applied, within 15 minutes it settles out perfectly flat and even .... far superior in that regard to other brands. It is remarkably "forgiving". It buffs out beautifully with steel wool. For me, it's the best. ... show more
