I painted my bedroom and replaced blue, expensive, rubber backed blackout drapes with these in brown to better match. This brown is a little lighter than I thought it would be, but if you've ordered anything online, like clothes, you know the colors vary from what you see on your screen. This brown still blended well with my paint and dressers, etc. Maybe these blackout drapes won't darken a room as well if you buy them in a light color, but mine are every bit as darkening as the expensive ones. The tiebacks are a nice feature as well. I admit I'm impatient (and lazy) so I hung them straight out of the box without washing or steaming. The creases from packaging didn't take too long to relax and there was no odor. I get a kick out of the poor reviewers complaining about them not being blackout when they post their pictures showing huge gaps all around the drapes letting light in. I really don't know what they expect by hanging them that way. I can't speak for the light colored ones, but these brown ones completely black out the room just as well as my expensive ones. This picture only shows one of the windows. What can I say, I'm an old man who likes dark earth tones - only in my bedroom. This fabric better muffles noise through the windows, too.

No light gets through. I’ve already recommended them to friends and family, many of whom have also ordered them and are very satisfied. Glad I got them.

I have always used black out curtains where i lived due to the heat we have here in FL but this summer has been the worse with the heat index running 104- 111 almost daily and where I live my window is right behind the storage sheds they have here in this park. When the sun hits those shed and comes into my window it's cooler outside than in my room. Since putting up these curtains even with the heat index of 108-111 it is still cooler inside that outdoors .. I love them and you sure can't beat the price.

I absolutely love the royal blue color. The fabric is nice, the quality. Easy installation. It’s definitely darker than my previous curtain, and this is my first blackout curtain, and I guess I expected for my room to be absolutely dark as night once the sun came up. It’s not. Some sun seeps through. Still darker than before, but my expectation was a totally black room.

We purchased the 70 x 84 inch curtains as we have a 112 inch wide living room window. And these curtains are great. We hung them by the tabs and they are easy to move on the rod. They block so much light that way as well. Within minutes of hanging them, we could feel the difference in temperature in the room, too. It was July in South Florida when we put them up. Almost no wrinkles too so they look so beautiful. We’re planning to order more for the bedrooms.

The royal blue has nearly 0 transparency, the soft fabric is perfect for blocking the sun and cooling down the rooms. I also purchased the black curtains and I love both of them. High quality for the low price point.

I’ve purchased these curtains in a different size and liked them enough to repurchase. One side of my apartment is south-facing and it gets hot and bright when the sun comes out. That is no longer a problem thanks to these curtains! You can see a little bit of sun when it’s super sunny out, but beyond that these work perfectly. The included photo shows the side by side difference— a good tip is to install them higher up your window and have them hang past it so that it totally blocks the light. I wasn’t able to do that because I have weird windows, but I think a lot of the complaints would be alleviated if they’d just installed them higher and made sure they went past the length of the window. They’re soft and the color is true to the image. Fabric is soft and pretty thick— they seem more expensive than they actually are. Like all curtains that don’t have a black backing, the lighter the color, the more light shows through. If you want budget blackout curtains and are on the fence about these, here’s your sign: get them!
