Grateful to other reviews which explained how the compressed-for-shipping foam expands just fine. It took about an hour. One photo is the four compressed pieces as delivered; the other is a single mostly expanded piece. Works fine.

Not sure if this is the fault of Amazon or the seller(can never tell anymore), but the product was so tightly packaged that all the foam is about 1/8-1/4 inch thick, not the advertised 1 inch, and it is so badly deformed and mangled that it can't really be used for the purposes I bought it for anymore. Edit: Above review was about an hour after opening from the package. At about 10hrs after, much of the shape has restored and the foam is getting closer to the advertised 1inch thick. It really didn't look like it was going to recover. I bought 2 packs, so 16 total, and now after 10hrs, the total height of the stack is about 14inches, much closer to the 1 inch each mark. Edges and corners of a few are still not recovering very quickly, but with as fast they recovered already, I would imagine them to be about right after another day or so. ... show more

I was afraid of some of the comments about this foam not being a full 1 inch thick. However, the foam I received expanded to the full dimensions described by the title: 16 in x 12 in x 1 in. I used these to pad boxes for gifts.
