This is my first bass guitar. I've been playing drums for 15 years and decided to try a new instrument. I've always been interested in bass though. Now to the review. ... the bass itself is great quality for the cost. It is Chinese made as it says on the back of the guitar and every other component but what isn't Chinese built these days. The amp is plenty powerful enough for practice. Strap and cord are decent quality. The tuner feels cheap but works perfectly. Checked it with wife's piano too. It's accurate... I have slight buzzing from the top E string unless playing an open E. I think it just needs adjustment and will be ok. Overall I'm thrilled with my purchase and will definitely buy Dean products again. ... show more

Bought this bass for my daughter not knowing much about the quality of bass guitars or amplifiers. This set is fantastic, the bass is decent quality and the bass amp works perfect for a beginner.

    • Woodwind and Brass Sucks
I may have liked the bass itself but the company i bought it from was horrible. I got the bass in a timely manner but opened it to find the origional package destroyed. I took the amp out, plugged it in and it didnt work so i took the back off the amp. It was completely destroyed. A complete Lack of care from the company. I called and they told me i had to ship the Entire package back to them, they would proccess the item and issues a refund to amazon which would in turn issue me a refund. Thank god they payed for the shipping, however it was regular ups ground as opposed to the 2day air i payed for to begin with. It took like a week for it to get to them, at which point they issued me a refund for only the shipping. about a week and a half later i finally got the refund for the bass and it was over. I have nothing to say about dean but the company i bought it from is horrible. I would not do business with them again to save my life. ... show more

    • Not worth it
I returned mine. This is why: For $200 you get a basic bass (not bad, but a $110 bass). You also get a bunch of accessories that are really bad: bad cable, junk tuner, useless amplifier, some picks, very light gigbag. I don't think they are $90 worth. You may feel that for $200 that's a good deal.. but wait, you end-up paying $200 for a basic bass, and accessories that you will have to change immediately ... because really they are no good. The amplifier has a 6.5 inches speaker (the product description says 8 inches!). And it's not even loud enough for a bedroom! if you increase the volume more than half, you get distortion noise which is awful. It's a useless amplifier. The bass itself is ok, finish of the frets was not great, some paint issues. Some people will say "You get what you paid for". Well, I've seen instruments from China of this price range with better finish. I think the problem for this bass is quality control. About sound, well, I don't know, I had only the amplifier with the set so I really can't tell. I ended-up returning it, I bought a Yamaha RBX170 Metallic Red for $170 and wow, I feel I spent my money more wisely with a better instrument. I'll spend $99 on a decent amp later, like the Ampeg BA 108 25W 8 inches which rocks! If you want to stick with the bass in this set, I'd suggest you buy just the instrument without the crappy accessories, and you buy a decent amp like the Ampeg. You'll be much, much more happy spending almost the same amount of money. Oh.. and for the tuner, buy a Snark SN-1 Tuner, that's $9 and so much better. ... show more

This bass is a great buy especially for anyone looking to learn its comfortable and well balanced. the amp is on the small side but it's a great practice amp overall for the money it was a wonderful purchase woodwind and brasswind was very prompt in their shipping and the kit arrived in good condition though the box for the box was not I blame brown for that though overall a wonderful experience ... show more

This bass is the best one ever. It was delivered very quickly and is ready to play straight out of the box. I think that any one who wants to play the bass should get this product. I have nothing bad to say about it. I love it!!!!
