  • Precise encoder knob: HANGELL DC power supply 0-30V 0-10A is different from the ordinary traditional knob, which is adjusted by precision encoder knob, with high precision and strong stability. I needed a high voltage power supply to charge solar batteries. This unit fit the bill and the price was right. The construction is very good as is the fit and finish. It is very intuitive and easy to use. I tested it several ways and it met all my needs well. Accuracy was average, but well within my needs. I'm just a hobbyist so I'm sure that if I were trying to use this professionally I would have some different requirements, but for just powering random circuits it works great. The controls are kind of weird, but usable once you figure it out. It's difficult to see the labels on each knob because they're blocked by the knob itself. They should've honestly just had pushbuttons or something, the knobs make it more difficult to use. The "settings" are completely unintuitive and the manual is difficult to understand in places, but you can silence the beeping if you want. This setting seems to get saved even if you unplug it so that's good because I don't want to have to ever read the manual again. It comes with a set of leads with alligator clips but you might want to get a separate pair because they feel very cheap. The power cord it comes with is short but it's just a regular IEC cord you probably have a dozen of lying around. The USB plugs are always powered whether the output is on or not, in case you were wondering. ... show more

My only complaint is that the USBC is not Power Delivery. You cannot trigger 20 volts. On a hobby power supply this should be a USBC-PD. I guess I should have read the specs better, but it works fine for my purposes. The leads are not silicone, but they are pretty flexible.

  • Failures at Rated Power Output
Style: 30V 10A
Problem: Supply limited to a maximum of around 145 Watts output and not full RATED power (300 Watts) . Supply Voltage 115 VAC. All 4 supplies, had the same exact failure mode -- current becomes permanently limited to 7A maximum with a 10A set CURRENT LIMIT. When first tested, all could supply 10A at about 28 VDC to the same exact resistive load bank before they eventually failed. It is caused by a wire de-soldering itself from the voltage selector switch -- due to extreme heat (at least 360 F) caused by high contact resistance within the switch during higher power output and additionally case internal temperature. Without the switch being able to complete the circuit for 115 VAC input, it will assume 230 VAC input. This causes the problem. Initial measurements before failures: Input power 350 Watts, 4.2A, 512 VA @ 0.68 power factor into a DC resistive load. 4 failures in a row could indicate a underrated switch that can not handle the 4.2A continuous current at higher power output levels. There are no markings on it to indicate ampacity. While this switch will initially handle the supply's rated output current of 10A, it will eventually fail unless using lower power settings. The switch is a double pole double throw type and if one pole is damaged, the other spare pole could be used -- but probably will have the same problem later. Solution: Solder the two switch wires together (assuming 115 VAC supply) and heat shrink insulate the joint. ... show more
