I really like this power supply. It's very quiet. I use it to power my IC-7610 and likely will use it to power some additional devices within my ham shack. This is really not a complaint, but I wish I could control the brightness of the Voltage & Amp displays. It's a tad bright, and it would nice if it had a dimmer control to be to control the brightness depending on my operating lighting conditions. This is a good bench power supply. It was packaged nicely, came promptly, and was easy to set up and use. For the price, I wish it had a couple more options for connecting things to it (i.e. another set of posts on the back or something), but I guess I'll just have to get a power strip of something.

Powering a subwoofer and amp for a vehicle in my house. It gets that woofer woofin. I chose this unit instead of a much cheaper power supply because the fan runs when it needs to and not all the time. Testing with a kill a watt meter it uses 35 watts at idle, and about 50 watts with loud heavy bass. I feel like I'm missing something but this ramshackld setup works beautifully for home theater. The amp is fused for 60 amps so this power supply isn't robust enough for full capacity. It's more than plenty though. The only thing that's missing is being able to fully unscrew the wire connectors to be able to use a ring terminal. That would really class it up. The more expensive models have that ability but not the poor mans model. ... show more

Running this on a Yaesu FT847, works well, plenty of reserve power at 50 amps. No noise, and otherwise works fine. One issue, also mentioned by others is when you shut it down you get the odd voltage pulsing as it turns off. I try to shut the radio off first, but I don't always remember. Does not seem to be a problem, but would be nice if it didn't do it just for piece of mind. ... show more

I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THIS INVERTER FOR TWO REASONS ONE IF IT EVER GETS HOT ENOUGH IT HAS A FAN THAT WILL COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND TWO FOR IT BEING 30 AMPS. I GOT IT TO POWER MY CB RADIOS AT 13.8 DC VOLTS AND IT DOES ABOUT 14.1VOLTS WHICH IS GREAT FOR WHAT I WANT IT TO POWER. I HAVE A 40 CHANNEL CB AND 100 WATT KICKER AND THE FAN HAS NEVER COME ON SINCE I PLUGGED IT IN TO USE IT. IT IS WHISPER QUIET AND NO INTERFERENCE COMING IN THE RADIO FROM IT. ALSO THE UNIT ITSELF HAS NEVER GOT WARM TO THE TOUCH EITHER, LIKE FROM OVER DRIVING IT. SO IF YOUR WANTING TO SET UP A CB BASE STATION IN THE HOUSE, DON'T OVER LOOK THIS INVERTER WHICH IS SMALL AND OF GOOD QUALITY GOOD VALUE AND PERFORMANCE AND WHISPER QUIET. This works great. It has never wavered from 13.8 volts with up to a couple amps applied. I have not tried the full 30 amps, yet, because I have not had a need. I am impressed with the regulation.

    • Best 50 Amp Power Supply for the Money

I have had this power supply now for several months and it works as advertised. I like that it has two LED lit dials, one for amps being drawn and one for voltage. I have mine set for 13.8 volts DC as recommended by most amateur radio gear. When transmitting with my HF or VHF transceiver at 100 watts, the voltage does not drop any nor does the needle even flicker. The amp meter does show the proper amount of amperage being used. The fan does NOT run constantly like a lot of the switching power supplies do. It is a very quiet power supply. The fan will come on if I am running high wattage on 100% duty cycle modes of transmission. The fan runs only until the unit cools back down and the fan is not very loud. The unit has a voltage adjust knob on the front along with an offset knob for moving any "birdies" that the power supply might generate, but I have not found that to be a problem. There are also two sets of Anderson Power Poles on the front along with a cigarette lighter type outlet. The main power is supplied through two heavy duty connectors on the back of the unit. I do highly recommend this power supply for a radio amateur and the price is the best around for a 50 amp supply. ... show more
