I bought my ED-500PV to clean my computers, my mechanical keyboard, my friend's computer, and so on. I waffled for months before buying because of the high price tag relative to some other products on the market and a dearth of clear, objective reviews (or even detailed product information). I just cleaned two PCs and a keyboard, and I'm very pleased! It won't get that fine coating of surface dust off of fans, metal panels, PCBs, etc. For that, you'll want to use a detailing brush to dislodge the dust while blowing air at the surface with your DATAVAC. For all the important stuff - clearing out heatsink fins, for instance - it's remarkably good. I'm VERY glad I went for the variable speed model. The dial goes from off to low through high speed/power and is very nice to use; it's a shame they didn't provide more details about it in the product page. It looks awkward to use but is actually a joy. I didn't need or use max power at all; I would have been disappointed if I had bought the fixed speed version to save a few dollars, because it's so much more power than I actually need. I did almost all of my cleaning in the low to medium range. Noise was a concern based on what I had read, but honestly, it was quite tame at lower power, where I actually used it. At max power, it's noisy, but not enough to be uncomfortable (for me). It sounds like a vacuum but a bit higher-pitched. Heat was also a concern for me, based on reviews for some competing products I've seen on Amazon. The air blowing down from the seams in the body does seem to keep it cool. I used it fairly heavily over the course of maybe an hour or more, and it was absolutely never hot to the touch. The product absolutely feels like it's solidly made and crafted with care. I really think the product's own marketing sells it short. I do have two complaints, neither significant enough to reduce my rating or recommendation at all. First, in my opinion, the detailing kit's smallest sizes are almost useless (or I just don't have the right use case). They're so small that they seem to provide almost no airflow. I thought the tiny wedge would be great for a keyboard, for instance, but it was useless. Instead, I used a keycap puller and then brushed between the keys quickly while blowing with my DataVac, and then I cleaned the surface as needed by hand. Second, and more importantly, I would love an explanation for the potential carcinogen warning in the product. In particular, there was a bit of a chemical smell - maybe a lubricant - the entire time I was using the product, and I would love to know if that and the Prop 65 warning are connected. If there are potential carcinogens buried in the product for very good reasons, and I'm never going to be exposed to them under normal use, that's maybe okay, though not ideal. On the other hand, if I'm actually being exposed, that's very bad, obviously. Assuming that it's not a health hazard, I strongly recommend the ED-500PV for computer dusting, etc.!

I love, love, love this little workhorse. I stumbled across the prior version about ten years ago at one of those giant computer stores while my son was searching for PC parts and was intrigued. It was expensive, but I splurged. Fast forward to now, where I am happily using my second one because I used the first one so much that I had to replace it over the holidays (the plastic cord surrounding the wiring where it connects to the blower eventually just disintegrated to the point that no amount of electrical tape could keep it going any longer without risking electrocution). And I used it a lot. I mean, a lot. Weirdly I rarely used for what it's advertised for. I use it for what I call power dusting - this thing will clear out dust bunnies you didn't know existed. It will force out every dead goldfish cracker and stray Chik-fil-A waffle fry in every crevice of your car. Try it in your closet and be horrified at how much dust attaches itself to your clothing and shoes. I've used it to clear out my dryer hose and even my dryer vent (note, I am fastidious about always cleaning out my lint trap but when I used the blower, the amount of lint that came flying out was both terrifying and impressive). I use it to dust out my fridge, freezer, kitchen cabinets/drawers (just gotta make sure light things are locked down). It susses out dust and grime from under appliances, under furniture, in corners, on ceilings, and ceiling fans. Cobwebs - ha! No more. And it will transform your garage cleaning. I've used it on my front and back porch (wouldn't use it too much outside because it's really not made for that, but for a quick porch clean it's great). One caveat, the "filter" is a tiny, round piece of fabric mesh and it does get dirty pretty quickly. I just pop it out and and use the blower to quickly clean it and pop it back in (see photos). I had the last one for 10+ years and the filter never failed. (I'm not sure the manufacturer thought some weird lady would use it for all her dust bunny hunting and car-goldfish cleaning, so I didn't ding my rating for frequent filter cleaning since I think I use it off-label.) A few more things to know: 1. It's also small, but that's the point. It's small but powerful - I think just the right amount of power to use indoors. Anything bigger would be too much (e.g. leaf blowers). 2. Until you get a feel for how forceful the air stream is, err on the side of moving light things out of the way because this can and will knock things over. Thankfully I never broke anything, but would not recommend using around delicate, expensive things. (And, because I'm a lawyer, please do not point this at your face, your partner's face, your annoying neighbor's face, your pet's face, or anywhere near a child's face. And keep out of reach of children, away from water, blah, blah, blah). 3. It's loud. My app registered 95dB. I usually have my AirPods in so it doesn't matter to me, but you do have to consider whether using it in your garage with the door open at 11:00 p.m. on a work night is a good idea. (Or so I'm told). I think it's great fun to use and amazing. Your mileage may vary but I hope this helps! (Last disclaimer, I have absolutely zero affiliation with anyone having anything to do with this product.)

Strong steady airflow that clears dust out of heatsinks and keyboards better than compressed air cans. The build is metal and feels like it will last. It is loud, but that is the tradeoff for the power.

I bought this to use when dusting off electronic components. I hated the canned air option because they're expensive, gets cold in your hand, and they just run out way too fast. I work on a lot of equipment so having a steady supply of air like this is wonderful. I used to hook up my air compressor if I was doing high volume blow outs but this is SO much easier. I didn't get the one listed as ESD safe but honestly, in all the things I've used this on (electronic, non-electronic, etc) I haven't had any problems, and I haven't "sensed" any static in the air flow. If you've ever experienced a high static charge environment, maybe you know what I mean...hard to describe. I've used this to dust out computers, stereo equipment, other electronic odds and ends. I've also used this to blow out air filters and just general "dusting" of hard to reach spots (laundry room where the dust bunnies seem to collect in odd places) so I could more easily grab the fluff or let a room air filter work it out once I've stirred the hornet's nest, so to speak. If you do run it for a while (maybe a minute or two) you'll feel the motor get warm but that's normal. The air filter on the bottom of this can also get clogged somewhat fast, especially if, like me, you're using it in a dusty environment to begin with, but it pops out super easy or you can swipe it and get it mostly clean to keep going quick. Would I get the ESD model next time? Maybe, just to be on the safe side, but this thing has been pretty solid and I don't see it breaking down anytime soon (I've had it for years) so I may not have a need to get another anytime soon. It's definitely a keeper. Note that the static I mentioned may depend entirely on your environment. Hot and humid would be much different than cold/dry for example. I'd think a dry climate would generate more static? Where I am, humidity indoors is typically in the 50-60% range, or 80-90% outdoors, so that may tamp down any static buildup. If I were in the Arizona desert it might be entirely different.

This isn't a canned air replacement. It's a slight downgrade from a gas powered yard leafblower. It torques in your hand like a pro drill. You have to prepare the area it will be pointed at or things will be lifted and blown away. Like your keyboard if it's not heavy enough. It may shove your monitor around. What it shines at is blowing out PC cases and fans. Take them outside. 30 secs and, if you don't smoke around your computer, it will look like new again. You will need to chock fan blades or the fan motor may generate power back into the control circuits. This is the "nuclear option" electronics air cleaner. Worth every penny if you need power. If you don't try looking at the variable version. This one product made MetroVac my (almost) only SSS god tier company. They just do it right.

Very good alternative to canned air. Comes with multiple attachments. Very sturdy. Made in USA. Great for dusting out more than just electronics. I also use it to blow dust out of my fans. Saves me from having to completely disassemble them for cleaning. If you have something VERY dusty, I would recommend using this in an area that you would NOT want to get very dusty. The instructions advise not to use outside due to risk of shock. As for me, I like to open my door while standing inside on a dry day to blow dust out of something so the dust does not recirculate in my home. But I HIGHLY recommend adhering to the enclosed instructions. They are very informative for the safety of yourself and the blower. Be sure to use a facemask and protective eyewear. For some reason, the review asks about 'Drying Power'. I put 2 out of 5 because I do not believe that is what the blower was intended for. If you spill a little water on something, it can certainly blow the majority of the water off of smooth surfaces. But I recommend NOT using this around any water. If you can stomach the price, I highly recommend this blower for any IT professional or anyone that has a workshop, garage, maintenance department etc.

This thing works great. The blower is much more powerful that I ever expected. It completely replaces having to use my old air compressor or any can of compressed air. And so much easier to use. Just plug it in and go. No waiting for the air compressor to come up to pressure or waiting for the compressed air canister to thaw from heavy use.

This thing rocks! It is very strong and feels great to use. The air that it outputs is very powerful compared to a can of compressed air. This thing easily blew the dust out of my PC and was even strong enough to clean out the radiator fins on my AIO!! The only possible downside would be that it is slightly large, but that isn't much of an issue for me (mainly using it to clean PC and it isn't too large for that). Be sure to hold your fans lightly while cleaning them or pointing the datavac in their direction (which this is just something that applies to all dusters, not just the datavac). The variable speed is also great, and slightly weird to work with (adding a button and knob would be better in my opinion). Since you have to turn the knob the entire way for full power, some may consider the other model without variable speed to be better/easier to work with as you can simply press a button and get full power the entire time (which again, kinda large to use while cleaning a PC and it is a sturdy/hefty device). ^ this is just a consideration for those who intend to clean their PC with it (which I assume is the majority). Holding the fans and turning the knob to increase power can be more difficult than holding fans and simply pressing a button. I generally just turn it to desired power and carefully swivel the Datavac into position while holding the fans that are going to be cleaned during that pass.
