The mountaineer socks are thick, warm and DARN TOUGH! The sizing chart is true to size, but if you want to double layer your socks order you standard size for you base then the next size up for the outer sock as they fit snug (desirable to prevent bunching and blisters, as well as preventing swelling to feet and calves on long outings. I wear these when out in below zero Fahrenheit temps clearing snow and walking the dog and my feet stay warm. They wick sweat away well.

"These are the best darn socks!" That's my husband's favorite line every time he puts these on. He works outdoors so is on his feet most of the day & he can't believe that a sock can make such a difference in how comfortable his feet stay all day. He usually wears the low, ankle height socks but wanted to try these for winter. The big selling points for him are that they're still made in Vermont and have been in business for 40 years, and they have a lifetime warranty. They're more expensive than most other brands of socks but he's a firm believer in the benefits of Merino wool, especially for outdoor work or play. He absolutely loves them so I'm sure I'll be putting in an order for more sometime soon.

I wear a size 10 boot and the mediums fit perfectly. When I bought last time I had to exchange the large for medium, their size chart is a little off These are very durable, I wear these socks everyday, year round, for work, same 3 pair I bought 5 years ago, I do a lot of laundry. I definitely recommend these.

These socks are legit. I ordered them for everyday use and they did spectacular. Tested them when I went to the snow and it was 7 degrees and my feet felt fine. Definitely can ruin a day if your feet are freezing and now these are my go to socks

Above all merino wool socks, these are the flagship of socks in all categories. They keep my feet cool when my boots get too warm, and they keep my feet warm when my boots get too cold. They are excellent insulating socks that practically eliminate sweaty feet for me. I am not making any medical claims, but having severe neuropathy in my legs and feet, I noticed a significant decrease in pain the first month I wore these. After 5 years, my neuropathy pain is reduced so much, I feel like it is 5-10% of where it was before wearing these socks. They are just great socks and worth every penny. I slowly replaced all my socks over years. When anyone said what do you want for Christmas. (These socks) Birthday, (These socks) You would be amazed how fast you can swap out all your old junk socks for these great socks by just letting folks give them to you on your special days.
