Obviously this sock costs a lot of money. But if you demand a lot from your socks & shoes, and are committed to taking care of your feet, then these are worth it. I purchased two pair, loved them, and quickly bought two more. We spend 3 months each winter near Phoenix, and hike about 200 miles over that period. The trails here are extremely rocky, which can quickly take a toll on your feet and ankles if your boots and socks aren't up to snuff. I'll say these socks feel different (better) from the moment you put them on. Cushy without bulk. Obviously well sewn. And coupled with a good pair of boots, and your feet are nearly bulletproof on these rocky trails. Being that their mostly wool, I suspect they won't smell as bad as most other socks if worn for several days straight, such as through-hikers (hikers who don't go home every night, but camp out on the trail for weeks at a time) are likely to do. If you just want a warm cushy pair of socks for a cold winter night in front of the TV, or just to wear around town, you're probably fine buying a 3-for-$18 sock. But if you put your feet through tough times, these are something you'll be glad you bought. ... show more

Now I have "Happy Feet", and my disposition has improved accordingly. These socks are pricey, but with a lifetime warranty, who cares? They have a lot of cushion they breathe great they don't make your feet smell nor be sweaty but they aren't very warm if you need something warmer I would definitely not buy these he's a good for about 30° and above anything around 20° and under you'll probably feel it if your boots are not insulated ... show more

Darn Tough socks have a reputation in the hiking/trekking world and were recommend to me by a co-worker. I figured since I just got a new pair of hiking boots in preparation for taking up hiking this year, I might as well try these socks. Let me tell you, I am blown away by them. Granted, I don't exactly have much to go by in terms of what good gear is in the hiking world, however I do know a good sock. I've experimented with socks over the years when playing various sports, to go with dress clothes, etc and these are already high up there in my opinion in terms of comfort. The cushion makes these boots wear so much better and the increased warmth is great for these winter days. I will say that the full cushion has made my boots a tad snug. Its nothing that has made them uncomfortable, but something you might want to be aware of. Its not enough to lower my opinion of these socks. They're easy to pull on and stay up on my leg where they should. They're also very well constructed. Get a pair, or two, maybe 5? They're worth it! ... show more
