I'm 6'4" and it's hard to find a cold weather sock that's truly over the calf. These go to my knee cap and are just heavy enough that my boots still fit fine. I didn't want a real thick sock but a Mid-Weight. These are perfect.

Generally I like a thick sock when I am snowboarding. Maybe it's the shock absorbing as well as the insulation. These are more of a medium weight, but they have nice insulation. I don't really notice any difference in shock absorbing and I can snug my heel into place in my boot and it keeps nice and attached through the ride. Off the mountain I have found these pretty comfortable with work and western boots. The sock is full calf length so I feel comfortable in either of these style boots. The medium weight also helps slide into the western boots without changing how they feel in size, but give me more weather protection on cool or cold days. As a preference I like a little bit more bottom thickness. But these do everything claimed and are a comfortable and good looking full calf boot sock.
