The Sam sandal has the classic Dansko sole and footbed design. The toebox is roomy and the straps are real buckle. I wear Dansko clogs and am used to the sole and footbed so these were exactly what I was looking for. Classic Dansko footbed is not cushioned but has great arch support and is leather so the shoe breathes. The shoes are comfortable from the start, no breaking in required for me. The Sam goes well with dresses, skirts, linen pants and jeans. It is cute with both wide leg and slim pants, and can be dressed up for work or casual for a weekend outing. I have had mine for a year now and wore them all last summer and fall and Thai last spring and summer. They are holding up great. As all Dansko, the price is worth it because they last for years of wear- sustainability counts! Love them! ... show more

Love these sandals! I have had my first pair for over a year and they still look great. They are so comfortable that I decided to buy a second pair. I have a high arch and my arches are well supported and comfortable all day, and that is hard for me to find in a shoe. These, like most clog style shoes, have a wide toe box that is very comfortable. The style has a bit of a retro vibe that I love! For those who mentioned that the toe of the shoe is darker in color than the rest of the shoe....that is correct. The description clearly states that the shoe has a "burnished toe". It is a design feature not a finishing flaw. The brown colorway is quite a bit lighter than pictured, but a very pretty soft mushroom color that will go with just about anything. These sandals do have a Velcro closure, which I was initially worried about, but on my old pair I just adjusted the Velcro to fit, and instead of fastening and unfastening them all the time I just drop the heel strap a bit in the back and slide my foot out. They are leather so they do stretch a little making it easier to do over time. The Velcro on my old pair is still pristine after more than a year, and I wear these shoes constantly. I feel these shoes run true to size. I was an EU size 36/US size 6 and these fit like a 36. ... show more

I got these to replace my red Dansko Sams, which only needed to be replaced because my puppy thought it would be fun to chew up the back straps. I’ve got a few pairs of shoes with this footbed, but the footbed feels larger than other Danskos. I’m not sure why, but I’ve noticed new Danskos are feeling larger on my feet recently. I ordered these in 38, which I’ve worn in Dansko for almost 20 years, but they just felt huge. I ended up ordering 37s as well, but returned 37s. The 38s are comfortable enough that I can wear them all day on concrete floors at my job as a teacher, and since I have finicky feet with plantar fasciitis, I would call that a win. The only other critique I have is that the leather came slightly scuffed, and it scuffs easily. I will most likely buy them in a second color. ... show more

These are so comfortable and cute! I was surprised the buckle is actually velcro but it stays in place well. I just slip my foot in and out the back and leave the Velcro as is so it’s always comfortable on my foot.

Over several years I have bought other Dansko shoes that I have been very happy with. They have been comfortable and durable. I have a pair of Dansko Season platform sandals that I like and wanted a shoe with a similar sole but with a closed toe. The Dansko Tiffany shoe is very stylish and seems to be well made. But they were so uncomfortable that I had to return them because the arch support is like a hard lump under my foot. The sole is not like the Season style. I was very disappointed because I really wanted a stylish Dansko shoe with a closed toe. ... show more

Size: 8.5-9 Color: Tan
I have loved and worn Dansko open back clogs for years. I have a very high arch and a wide foot (D) and these were more comfortable and more loved than bedroom slippers to me. I wear them all day, days in a row. Wanting a more closed up clog, I ordered these Dansko clogs with the heel strap in a size 40 (9.5-10 American) because I wear 9-9.5 in American, depending on the shoe style. So I wasn't sure which size to choose. And the back strap was very loose and would never do. Very disappointed, I sent them back. I tried another brand and they were of much lesser quality and not comfortable in the least. I almost gave up. But I decided to try Dansko again in a smaller size 39 (8.5-9 American). They fit like a dream. They are dainty looking (and believe me, no one has ever called my size 9 foot dainty). I'm so glad I listened to another reviewer and tried a smaller size. I apparently have been wearing the wrong size open-back clog all these years and never knew it because they are just so completely comfortable.
