This is the 4th piece of Ameriwood furniture I've purchased. Let me help you make an informed decision when considering this item. First, let's be realistic. Ameriwood furniture is NOT real wood. It is particle board with a laminate film glued to the outer surfaces to appear like wood. So, if you're looking for a QUALITY piece, (obviously at a price point of only @ $100), this is not it. So, why then consider Ameriwood pieces? If you are in the market for an inexpensive piece of furniture to fill a space or provide practical function, then I highly recommend this brand. Because, though it is particle board, once assembled, they look surprisingly nice. In fact, at first glance no one would know it was just particle board. So, for a small, at-home office, this piece is perfect! But what I love most about Ameriwood furniture, is the assembly instructions. This is where Ameriwood shines! Never have I had better, descriptive, plainly laid out instructions. It is because of this that I seek out Ameriwood pieces over other manufacturers. Their instructions are clear, simple and easy to understand. All the assembly hardware comes individually wrapped, and the holes in the wood pieces come pre-drilled and align perfectly as you put them together. All you need is a screw-driver.     • The desk is good, but the build of it is not so great

I got the grey version of this desk and it looks great. It's got great space on the top and the 2 shelves on the side are very handy. When I first got the box for the desk, the box was a bit damaged on the corners and edges, which is fine, the desk was not damaged. I opened the box and sorted all the parts. Some of the bigger pieces, like both of the top pieces for the actually desk part of it, was very dirty. I had to use a rag with soap and scrub the crap out of it to even get it off. The way that they have you put the desk together is the worst way I have ever even seen. They want you to use cam bolts with the joint connecter things (I think that's what their called). I had such a hard time getting those thing to grab onto the cam bolts and hold and not get loose again. You're going to have to tighten those thing every once I'm a while, which I hate. The bracket you use to hold the desk part together is too long and it leaves a good size gap where stuff has a possibility of falling through. ... show more

Great desk for $80.00 dollars. It was easy to assemble and seems to be sturdy enough for desktop computer, a monitor with speakers and subwoofer. I still have plenty of room on the left side of the desk for writing. Would probably be a good desk for students. Make sure to tighten all the cam locks properly. Instructions were unclear and I had to watch a YouTube video. No matter how much I tightened it, some parts were still flimsy. Maybe it’s just because I have no experience building this kind of table. It was a couple of trial and errors by doing this by myself. I was still able to flip it around without help, though I’d recommend having help because it’s flimsy. I had to lift it up when my carpet arrived. The bottom part of the storage thingies broke. Now I’m scared of lifting this thing just to put my carpet again after washing it. Also, while screwing the long nails, one of the holes were hard to see OR I had to make one myself by basically forcing it. I actually accidentally screwed too much that I broke a part of the wood. It was… pretty soft. Still giving four stars for holding it up with my 22-inch drawing tablet and monitor, and having enough space for useless stuff on the long side.
