Wonderful stuff! This is the second time I have used this in a rental unit. My first experience was covering hideous fake black granite counter tops speckled with mirrored chips in the kitchen of a converted Victorian triplex. It was my first experience using contact paper and I wasted a few rolls but the results were satisfying and aesthetically pleasing. I have lived with vomity looking faux granite (veiny beige and brown chunks on a bile colored background) counter tops in my new place for the past year and could no longer stand looking at them, so I dug out my leftover roll of this paper from the other re-do and tried it on a small section of counter. Easy to do and I was thrilled with the result, so I ordered more. Wood look contact paper has come a long way since I was a kid in the 1950s. This looks quite decent! A few tips for covering counter tops this way. 1. Be sure your surfaces are spotlessly clean and crumb and "bit" free. Any tiny speck of grit or even hair will really show up through the contact paper. I dusted well with a microfibre cloth, scrubbed with Dawn and a Dobie-twice-and dried the surface with a microfibre cloth. 2. Measure three times, cut once. 3. Take your time. Go slowly. Do not rush to finish the job in an hour or even a day. When you start to get tired and annoyed, knock off for the day. You'll thank yourself. 4. Apply to damp counter tops. Sounds weird, but this allows the sticky paper to slide around a little, and if you live in a very old place like I do, you quickly learn that there are NO totally square or rectangular surfaces. I used a water filled spray bottle for making the counters a bit slippery. 5. Use a squeegee to smooth the paper down, and keep a clean, dry cloth as well to aide the process. Using just your hands to smooth it down will guarantee lots and lots of air bubbles. 6. You WILL get some bubbles so don't beat yourself up. Use an Exacto knife and with just the point, pierce the bubble and smooth it out with a dry cloth. If you are using this butcher block pattern, make your piercing in the wood grain. The tiniest hole is more than sufficient; no need to gouge. 7. Try not to layer and if you have to over lap pieces, make the over lap as small as possible. 8. This is not real wood (of course), so when it is installed, don't cut food directly on it and do not put hot pans or dishes directly on it, either. 9. Order more than you think you'll need. You'll thank yourself. 10. Don't use abrasive cleaners or abrasive pads to clean this. I use a microfibre cloth and vinegar and water in a spray bottle to keep it clean. It cleans up very nicely with these. If you have dried on dirt, let the vinegar and water sit to do its job. No need for brute force or heavy abrasives. I was so inspired by how much better the kitchen looked with "new" counters, I got prepasted faux tile wallpaper to do a backsplash behind the sink and the stove. My next project is going to be pre-pasted beadboard wallpaper covering on the cabinet doors and drawer fronts along with new hardware. Needless to say, my landlord loves me! ... show more

I was going to mention in this review that this might be a niche use of this stuff - but then I see the listing specifically says it can be used for doll house flooring. Either way - my daughter and I are turning a “Rainbow High Doll House” into a “Christmas Elf on the Shelf House.” I got this stuff to use for the floors and it’s so perfect. Just the right wood scale for a small house. I ordered a few colors/patterns to check out (returning the others) and this one (in the butcher block color) was perfect. The others had too big of a scale and looked like one big piece of wood vs this one that really looks like wood floor planks. Super easy to apply and sticks really well. I used a scraper as I went, but no issues with bubbles at all. Just make sure your surface is super clean and free of any bumps/imperfections, as they will show through. ... show more

    • Fantastic butcher block look!

Got this as a potential quick-fix for a countertop, but ended it up using it under two vanities to cover up general ickiness left by a previous tenant. It went on easily, smoothed out with few bubbles, and looked REALLY nice. It not a real dupe for real butcher block, but does approximate the look very nicely. It quickly spiffed up a rental property's bathrooms. It stuck pretty well to formica, but it had a harder time sticking to plywood. Still, a quick nice fix to an ugly problem. However, not alot of footage on the roll. One roll only covered two under-vanity areas. I was a bit shocked, thankfully we had just enough for our project! This is also a nice and cheap way to determine if butcher block countertops would look good in your kitchen, before you spend the booko-bucks! UPDATE 03/12/2016 Bought more of this for my house. Redoing some closet shelving that has nasty old contact paper on it with this butcher block stuff. Results are like night and day. The shelving looks SO NICE now. Clean and fresh, and the butcher block appearance is a winner. Ordering more so I can finish this closet and do another. IMO, the DC Fix Butcher Block is their nicest pattern, with the most usability. Love this! ... show more

I love DC Fix adhesive films; I have used them to update my kitchen backsplash, my bathroom walls and even my bathroom floor! This pattern (in the stock photo) looks exactly like my Pergo wood floors. I was hoping to use it on my old linoleum bathroom floor, to make it blend with the rest of the house (doing Pergo in our bathroom isn't an option right now $$). But, in person, the 'slats' are thin, and very much like butcher block. So, beautiful paper, but not for my project. (I ended up using a different DC pattern, 'rustic brown', and it looks beautiful!) The paper is very sticky, comes in a roll and is pretty easy to apply, just go slow and smooth out the air bubbles as you go.     • Quality Faux Wood Contact Paper!

I've seen A LOT of "wood" contact paper that looks far from wood, so my expectations were low when ordering this. I purchased this as a cost effective way to see how butcher block would look in our kitchen before actually buying new counter tops. The contact paper looks great! The slight wood grain makes it look like real butcher block and visitors actually thought we'd changed our counter top. Putting it on wasn't difficult, just make sure that you go slow and use something to smooth it out along the way (I used a car squeegee). If you plan to use this as a permanent covering then, in my opinion, the hardest part is finishing off the corners (because it requires a precise cut to look flush). This has been on our kitchen counter for about 2 months and it still looks like new. ... show more

Loooooooooooove it! Will definitely buy more! My new apartment is really old and has old tile countertops in the kitchen. I purchased this with not a whole lot of expectations for the price but wow am I impressed. I put this on with not even much effort for precision just to see how it would look and without even trying it looks great! What an improvement! Plus it’s simple and cheap enough to redo but it’s holding up well! I use my sink as normal and it gets wet but the water just beads up and I wipe it off. It doesn’t go through! Almost two weeks and no lifting or pealing! Will definitely order more! It actually looks like real wood! ... show more
