Always wanted one of these. Not many models of this detail and functionality available anymore. A few things to be aware of are that the picture is out of date. The new model has the black paddle shaped handles on the throttle and whistle controls instead of the pictured traditional red ones. Also the wheels are not made so true anymore.     • A meaningful toy
I bought this for my son four years ago when he was just a little kid and crazy about trains. The price is very high, but the hope was that this would be a childhood toy to be cherished. And four years later he still really likes it. It's not something you would want a small child to play with daily because it will get broken, but there is an undeniable cool factor that both kids and adults can appreciate. It's a toy that really works like the real thing, and there are not too many of those nowadays. We fire it up every now and then and have fun with it, and when it's not in use it sure does look great on the shelf.
