  • A Scope With Features Of Much More Expensive Scopes
I have owned and sold many hunting rifle scopes from $150 to $2000 and there is a lot of quality difference between this range. While this Cvlife scope can be used for hunting rarely will a true hunter use or need a scope with a power magnification over 10X power. The primary reason for this limit on magnification is the higher the magnification the less light will be transmitted to the eye so in low light hunting conditions sometimes less magnification is better and 10X power is about the best compromise between magnification and light gathering ability. This is where the quality of the lenses comes in and why high end scopes cost so much. Clarity and light gathering ability are premium! This is a heavy well built scope! The lenses are glass with a etched Christmas tree type reticle which is a premium feature. The scope has a side adjustable fast focus knob which is a premium feature. The scope has precision click type tactical turret adjustments with the ability to quickly adjust the point of impact and return to zero, a premium feature. The power adjustment is firm but smooth and the windage and elevation adjustments are also smooth with definite 1/4 inch click adjustments. Because of the larger 30 mm tube the scope does gather light better than a standard 28 mm tube. Focusing on both close and far targets I do not notice any parallex which is a edge lens distortion and very distracting. The image is clear and reasonably bright on 16X power magnification. Late in the evening at prime deer hunting time you can not use much above 10X power and still be able to easily identify a deer with a rack standing next to the woods beyond 300 yards but you can turn the magnification down. This scope is heavy which is not an asset for a light carry all day hunting rifle. This scope is made primarily for a dedicated long distance shooter who shoots in good light conditions from a shooting bench. With the Christmas tree reticle and the ability to make small adjustments easily this scope is a great long distance target scope. The scope also has a FFP reticle which makes the reticle larger as the magnification is increased. Most hunters will not use a scope with this type of reticle because the viewing field is much too busy and distracting to hunt with. The red illuminated small center crosshairs is a great aid in low light shooting. But this is as I said a great precision target scope! This Cvlife scope has features and build quality comparable to much higher cost scopes! My one complaint is this manufacturer only offers a one year warranty. Every scope that I ever sold had a lifetime warranty. The truth is that in over twenty years of selling rifle scopes I rarely had a scope to fail because of quality issues! One reason this scope is so inexpensive is that you are not paying for a lifetime warranty. One issue that requires a high mention is that I had a problem understanding the instructions on how to use one of the scopes premium features. I sent an email to Cvlife and within two hours I received a reply. Cvlife sent me updated instructions that included a very detailed video that explained the scopes feature very clearly. This is a response from a manufacturer that cares about customer issues. Good for them! I plan on doing a in depth comparison between this scope and four other high end brand name scopes in the coming weeks which I will update. ... show more

  • Excellent mid-range scope.
This is a very good scope for the price. It comes with scope rings so you can mount it right out of the box. The glass is good and clear. The reticle is permanently printed on the glass, so even if the battery goes out you'll still be able to aim. The illumination has 6 levels of brightness, and it lights up the center crosshair noticeably more than the rest of the "Christmas tree" reticle. It draws your focus naturally to the center, which is fine. The lower levels of illumination 1 through 4 are pretty subdued, with 1 being something you might use at night as otherwise you won't notice the red illumination. Settings 5 or 6 are visible in daylight, although with 6 you do get a little bleed over of the image. This is a FIRST FOCAL PLANE scope, so realize that your reticle (Christmas tree) will change in apparent size as you zoom in and out. I took a photo of 4X, 16X, and also the Level 6 illumination so you get some idea of what they are like; the best way to see what the reticle shows is on the main product page, but I gave these photos so that you can see how the reticle grows or shrinks, and how bright the lightup is. (It's actually brighter in real life, cameras just don't pick up good images from scopes.) The construction quality is good and solid, and the windage and elevation turrets click nicely. There is a slight glitch on mine, in that the elevation turret doesn't lock in place (the windage DOES lock). It doesn't move unless I want it to, so this is a minor gripe. The parallax adjustment works quite well, and I can get sharp focus even closer than the advertised 10 yards. (Great detail at 4x and 5 yards!) The illumination knob is really stiff. Like REALLY. The nice thing is that it's got interposed "OFF" clicks, so as you turn the knob, it goes from OFF to 1 to OFF to 2 to OFF to 3, etc. - meaning you can set it at the level you want and then it's just 1 click to shut it off. Not the end of the world and especially not considering everything else good about this scope. The magnification ring works smoothly and can be turned even without the throw lever (but the lever does help a lot.) You also get a sun shade tube, two coin cell batteries (one to use and one spare) and the needed allen wrenches. It holds zero well. Summary: It's a very good scope for the price, with clear optics and good magnification. Check out the reticle and be sure that this is the style you want/need. If it's good for you, then this is a good scope to get that serves well and won't break the bank. ... show more

  • budget high power scope
I needed a scope for a ruger american chambered in 308. I didnt want to break the bank on a blaster that i only plink with. This was my choice. Here are my thoughts: pros: - 30mm tube gathers a lot of light, great for shooting at dawn and dusk - illuminated reticle - tactical turrets for easy adjustments Cons: - glass is not the most clear This scope is great for the price. You get a 30mm tube, tactical adjustment knobs, illuminated reticle and a throw lever for a great price. Its a wonderful scope for the price and has help up well after 50 rounds! ... show more

  • Great scope!
I love it. Easy to install, easy to calibrate, lots of nice features and the illumination is good. Looks great, the size is good for a hunting rifle, and it's pretty good quality. Better than you'd expect at this price. Great value for the money. Very clear sight picture and a smooth zoom function.
