Other than a motorcycle this pan won't hold the capacity of oil that a car or truck has. But yea it holds like 3-4 quarts.

I have re-started doing my own oil changes, largely because the shops keep raising their prices. Thanks to Amazon, I can buy oil and filter for about half what they want to charge, so why not. This pan works fine, nothing to get excited about. My can uses about four quarts, so this pan is a good size. Use, pour the oil back into the containers, wash it, and wait to change another day. ... show more

It held the oil I drained in to it. Used it for my KLR650 and it fit perfectly under the drain plug.

Oil fills to the brim with a 5qt change. Hard to keep from spilling when moved. Would suggest getting a bigger pan for convenience.
