Was taking a friend out. Gave him the Casco138 with the padded seat. I took my older Loon138 with the fold up plastic seat, but ordered this Yakpads gel seat thing the week before. Well, 6 hours on the river and I was sold that my 40 bucks was NOT wasted. I drilled holes in the plastic seat and used the 3 screws through those loops to hold it in place and I'd never been so comfortable for so long in that kayak. I'd sat on a thick towel in the past, but it always eventually got wet, hard, and ineffective. The next week I took out the Casco138 and just layed this 'over' the padded seat in that boat - it stayed in place without the mounting screws just fine and improved the seating experience greatly in that boat also. If you have any type of seat that becomes uncomfortable or hard after awhile - I recommend this. I do think it also kept me cooler/dryer, maybe due to the fact it lifted me a bit and allowed more air flow and kept me from sitting in wet. Edit: Saw this same "looking" pad at Academy, but the moment I picked it up knew something was wrong. Academy is asking the same price/brand name [plus tax] for an inferier "FOAM" filled version. Don't get the foam filled. Get this GEL pad. Foam is what my other seat is, and they just don't do anything - especially after a few hours of wet/sweat/heat.

What a difference; on long kayak trips especially, after 12 miles or so, this seat cushion alleviated sciatic pain. Fits well, can be fastened to the existing seat with the included cord. Bottom of the cushion grips the seat, so far no sliding around. It is substantial, well made, and exactly what I needed. Worth the price. " The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten!"

This product is custom made for a kayak seat or a one person canoe seat. Super high quality and grips nicely to the plastic seat. Makes a huge difference in comfort. I like to bass fish for about 3-4 hours at a time and this cushion enables me to do so. It's worth the money, I highly recommend this product.

When I first felt this pad with my fingers, I doubted it would do much at all. But I was surprised. We bought this for our son's kayak seat - an older Necky with hard plastic seat. The day it arrived he had already left to go camping with Boy Scouts for the weekend. I had a huge sewing project and used it all weekend on my hard wood dining room chair. It really did work well. Again, I was totally surprised this thing worked, but it really did. My tail end didn't ache or hurt in any way after using for about 8 hours straight. My Necky kayak has a padded seat, but I think this will feel better than the padded seat and plan to order one for me too.

I was a little disappointed when this was delivered. I read a lot of good reviews before buying and decided to go ahead and order. It is definitely gel inside and has a non-skid underside along with a lot to secure it to your kayak, which is nice. However, it was MUCH thinner than I expected! I sat on it for a few minutes and it felt somewhat hard. I did not try it in my kayak, only on a chair for a few minutes, but I didn't feel like it would be worth the money to take on a kayaking trip. I will be returning it.

It's a wee bit on the small side, but otherwise it's exactly what I was looking for. I am an avid kayaker and have been for years but I bought this to take to restaurants and places where the seats are often as hard as concrete and hurt my everything after thirty seconds. This seat is easy to carry, inconspicuous enough, and provides just the right amount of padding between the hard seat and my bony backside. Grateful for it. I have a whole catalog of cushions of varying degrees of effectiveness but I think I'll go to this one most times when I go out.

I love this product! It has just enough padding to give my "sit" bones a break without so much that I start to feel unstable. I have found two problems when I've tried thicker pads in my kayak: (1) the higher center of gravity feels more tippy, and (2) the fit in the boat becomes too "sloppy"/not snug enough especially for a whitewater kayak or my narrow Greenland-style skin boat, where I just need to feel closer to the boat to have a good ride. Right now the pad is doing double duty on the wooden chair by my computer -- I last much longer sitting on this little pad! I may get another one so I don't have to carry it over to the wooden rocking chair. The only thing I'd change is a less obvious label (perhaps on the bottom where it wouldn't advertise the brand to everyone who walks by). Also, keep in mind that it is not especially wide so it might not fit some posteriors. I'm over 6' tall, but I've got the smaller bumper typical of many Native guys. It is sized perfectly for me.

Nice gel pad. Used for 3 hours and did fine for me but my perception kayak already had a pad. My boyfriend bought one for his Emotion sit on top seat which had no padding at all and said it could be thicker. Better than sitting on plastic! It’s very well made and comes with 3 loops to affix to seat. Cord and plastic “screws” included.
