Description

A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM- compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing.     • Works excellent for 2 way trailer lights.
Installed in 2015 Audi Q5. Took about an hour, wasn’t too hard, but removing panels, rubber trunk gasket then reinstalling was hardest - use a panel tool (not screwdriver like me) & take your time so you don’t break any clips. Instructions with pictures were excellent, did view a YouTube video on removing hatch door inside trim just to be certain. Works excellent for simple 2 way four prong trailer lights, but if you have a travel trailer or something heavy, get an OEM trailer package install which will program system to adjust transmission shifting when plugged in among other things. Backup sensors will drive you nuts in reverse when trailer is attached, just turn them off on the front dash button. Excellent value, only thing I wish was different was about a foot longer trailer plug wire, routed from trunk thru hatch to trailer will just barely come out at hitch ball area - not an issue if you permanently mount plug underneath chassis. ... show more

    • Have to remember it won’t work with hatch open?
Feeling really dumb for not remembering to close hatch lid ! Installation went really well. Tested with lid closed using little test plug worked perfect! Hooked up trailer nothing worked thought maybe fuse was blown (hatch was open!) everything checked out good but wouldn’t work very frustrating Then I read the review telling to make sure hatch was closed thank you!     • Install is not easy, but worth not having to splice wires
We moved from Atlanta to Vancouver, taking the scenic route (basically going straight west and then straight north). I put the hitch on my 2014 Audi Q5, and rented a U-Haul 4 x 8 trailer. I bought this wire harness kit thinking it would be a quick and easy install, but it was not at all. The instructions seem detailed, but I ended up watching a YouTube video that made the install a lot more obvious than the instructions did. A lot of trim had to be taken off to get to the taillights to then do the easy plug-in to the lights rather than the splicing other kits wanted me to do. The kit came with plenty of zip ties, but I opted for electrical tape like the video I was watching used. Once the install is complete, there is plenty of wire to the trailer connector, and once done with the trailer, the wire connector can be put away in the side panel in the hatch. The only other thing to note (the YouTube video mentions this) is if the hatch is open, the lights won't work on the trailer, so be sure to close the hatch before testing if the lights work properly. I am glad this is a one time installation, and was worth it to be able to pull a trailer legally. ... show more

    • Does not work with my vehicle!
I bought this to have the Uhaul installers put it on my vehicle. They said it didn’t fit. They called the Audi dealership and were told that Audi won’t support it. I’m thankful that I was able to return it .

    • Much cheaper than factory part
It was a little more challenging to install in Audi than some cheaper cars but only because I didnt want to have any squeaks or rattles. Their instructions suck, as in bad photo copy so watch a vid on YouTube.

This fit my 2015 Audi Q5 just right. Was a lot to take apart on the car but the wiring fit just right. Instructions, along with online install videos, were a big help and everything worked from the get-go.

    • Plug and Play, but needs a longer trailer plug wire.
Simple install. Only complaint is that the plug wiring isn't long enough to run outside the vehicle for a permanent outside the vehicle install. So basically, you have no choice but to run out the hatch door everytime.
