Description

If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM- compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Dodge Durango (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

While this wasn’t a 30 minute install as instructions would make you believe, this wasn’t bad at all. I see some people drilling holes, dropping the rear bumper, etc. None of this is necessary. I started with the passenger light and used the self tapping screw begins the tail light to connect the ground wire. I ran the wire loom to the bottom of the vehicle. I took the module and mounted it in between the bumper and passenger tail light. I used another self tapping screw I had to do this. Routing the driver side was easy enough. For the power wire I ran it underneath the vehicle following other wires in a harness securing the wire with zip ties as I went. I fished up the power cable by the vehicle jump point (+) and put the power to the post so the fuse block is under the hood. Overall it took me 2-3 hours (many adult beverages in between) and it looks great. I’d recommend the Curt 4 pin bracket so it looks like a professional install. Otherwise you’ll have your plug just kind of hanging out. My plug was routed out of the factory cut out for a factory hitch which wasn’t installed. Overall 7/10. ... show more

  • worked as expected.
Do yourself a favor and don't put the bumper molding on until you have the wires routed, fastened, and tested. Must have pulled the bumper off three times. Thought I could mount the controller behind the bumper with the bumper on,,, wrong. I thought I could run the wires across the hitch to the passenger side and secure them with the bumper on. didn't work out very satisfying. Took the bumper back off. Thought the white ground would connect to the white wire on the Hopkins kit, wrong. Both needed to be screwed to vehicle ground, I sanded the paint off around hitch screw hole that the bumper attaches to, and made that the ground with a metal washer. Besides bumper on Bumper off, Spare tire down spare tire up, running the power wire to the engine compartment was the most painful. I want it to last for years, not short out and have to redo. Take your time routing the power wire. Get extra zip ties, the kit doesn't come with enough. ... show more

  • In line hitch electric hook up
I installed a Curt hitch on a 2019 dodge Durango, and also installed this wiring harness, the harness took two hours. However the hitch took 15 minutes, very easy job. However the wiring harness is not a very simple job. I recommend if you are not mechanically inclined you pay somebody to do this for you. You have to run a line from the back of the vehicle all the way to the battery upfront there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help you if you want to attempt this yourself. Good luck. ... show more
