  • Relax, Laugh-- and maybe cry, a little later.
Style: Cupid Parasite
I'll start right off by saying that I didn't expect to like this game. I'm generally drawn to darker otome stories. When I started playing Cupid Parasite, initially I had some trouble warming up to it because of the ridiculous plot elements-- but once I got over that, I can honestly say I really LOVED this game. If you're the kind of person to take characters and the plots VERY seriously... this game is going to throw you for a loop. It takes some getting used to! I played this game right after Olympia Soiree and that probably made the "culture shock" of this game even more pronounced for me. This game is a ROMCOM, and it's really important to keep that in mind. If you know there's no way you'd enjoy a romcom, this game isn't for you. PROS: - I liked ALL the characters, every route I found myself going "awwww!!" multiple times even for the characters that I expected to hate or weren't my "type". - The overall plot / hints woven into each route is actually very compelling, though I strongly recommend playing in a certain order to enjoy it fully because some routes would actually ruin the feel of others if played in the wrong order. - The music is so catchy! And in English, which I didn't expect. - The right amount of drama, romance and cuteness. - The voice acting and art are VERY good! - Mythology elements! CONS: - UI feels laggy and it's not intuitive, but it's ok once you figure it out. - The names of the characters are so blah. Shelby Snail? Allan Melville? Eww. - You might find yourself really, really not liking the love interests at first. I honestly hated them at first. - Some of the translations are pointlessly incorrect. For example, you can HEAR them say English words but the translation will have different words. (IE: Hiiiiii becomes Heya, My Honey becomes My Darling. WHY?) - Typos are sprinkled in - Some of the voiced dialogue is in this really stilted English, but this fortunately was only for things like news broadcasts and not for the main characters. - Playing the routes in the wrong order could make certain plots a lot less compelling. - The names of shops / brands / celebrities are pointlessly changed in ways that are still recognizable but weird, and I didn't really understand the point. Like insta was instergrimm, Starbucks was something like StarBoughs-- the game does this for.. EVERYTHING. It was excessive or I probably wouldn't have noticed. HIT OR MISS (up to you if it's a pro or con) - For most of the characters/stories, the bad ends are actually not "bad". Some of them are just ridiculous. There were a couple bad ends I'd even say were actually pretty good, just not "as happy" as the happy ends. - A lot of the humor in the game is because of the super exaggerated "quirks" of the love interests or things that are just sort of random. - The game reveals some key details of the plot in the common route, which I'm not used to but actually enjoyed. There will be things you know all along even though the female lead might take a while to learn them herself. The play order I recommend: Ryuki > Shelby > Gill > Raul > Allan > Secret Character* *To be fair you actually have to play the secret character last, the game makes you play all the other characters first. Raul and Allan unlock after the first playthrough, but I still recommend this order regardless because of spoilers. I actually played Shelby first, then Ryuki, but otherwise this is the order I played. After playing the game I think Ryuki should have been first, just in terms of slowly revealing elements of the plot and preserving the intended tone/feel of each story. ... show more

  • Kind of hard to find a hardcopy? Great game and highly rated by the otome community.
Style: Cupid Parasite
Peppy and fun, full of color and music, this is an otome experience unlike any other and I'd highly recommend anyone even a little interested pick up this game. It's very cheesy and colorful as the cover suggests but is really a breath of fresh air, additionally a lot of the otome community highly rate and value this game and finding physical copies is somewhat difficult, if you can get it, do! Worth the experience, even if gameplay is a little on the long side per route and there are some translation issues, which is to be expected. ... show more

  • I can fix him 😂
Style: Cupid Parasite
Have you ever thought to yourself "I can fix him?" Then Cupid Parasite is for you! You're tasked with trying to get everyone married but each love interest has an issue, and it's so funny trying to fix them but... oops! You end up falling in love with them. 🤭 This game is a romantic comedy with a mythological/pop style that spans both the artstyle and its soundtrack and the combination works surprisingly great! The boys are all so pretty and the game came with an alternate cover as well. (Also if you're asking yourself why the brown haired boy Owen isn't dateable, me too!) It's super fun and I'd recommend it to anyone who finds the idea of a romantic comedy otome game interesting! ... show more

  • Yay for Cupid!
Style: Cupid Parasite
Great comedy otome with good plot and fun characters. Some very funny moments and fantasy storyline. Imaginative portrayal of Roman gods living amongst humans. I love playing as a god, interacting with gods and demons, as well as going to the gods realm vs human realm. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, so don’t expect a thriller or complicated drama. But it is a very good quality romantic comedy. Lots of romance, colorful artwork, and fun. I wouldn’t say the characters are very deep, but very quirky and likable for sure. ... show more

  • A refreshing change for otomate!
Style: Cupid Parasite
I preorder all big budget otome that get a western release and so far this is one of the highlights for this year. Don’t get me wrong there are errors the way that other otomate games have been having the last few years but the game itself is a really refreshing change of pace. One of the funnier titles I’ve played and all of the LI have their own theme song. Also, the songs are in English? Never seen that one before and I dig it. The design is colorful and fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously instead focusing on capturing a vibe. This is one to pick up for sure. ... show more

  • Personally...
Style: Cupid Parasite
I didn't like the game. Quit near the end of Gil's route. It's a good enough game that I'm sure a good portion of people will like it but it wasn't for me.

  • My favorite VN
Style: Cupid Parasite
I love so much about this VN, the aesthetics, music, unique concept, would have liked more older LIs and the parts where there is white text on a light background were very difficult to read. My biggest complaint is there is far too much recapping in dialogue which artificially inflated the game length and bored me to tears. Sometimes recapping 3-4 times the same things. Aside from that I was very pleasantly surprised. ... show more
