I may have received a defected one, however, mine was wobbly; as if a attachment was hanging on by a thread. I have always wanted an easier way to fill cupcakes - and this is it! The cutter part worked best when I wiggled it just a bit to help it ease down into the cake. I thought that the "plunger" part would move up as I cut into the cupcake, but it wasn't noticeable. What it did do was push out the part of the cake that had been cut out once I was finished. It also didn't matter which core I put back into the holes that were cut - they all fit just fine, and differences in how deep they were didn't seem to matter, either. I really liked the size of the cuts, too - they were perfect to me. And it was no problem cutting them to whatever depth I wanted (see the cupcake that was cut in half) - the cores pulled out just fine. There are tons of great filled cupcake recipes online to try out, too. I just used a cake mix (which made 24 cupcakes, although it said it would do 36) and used canned frosting on top after they were filled. I used a recipe for the filling, but fillings can be as simple as instant pudding or stabilized whipped cream. The dollop of German chocolate frosting on top finished them off nicely (also canned). These were a big hit, and were so much faster and easier than cutting out a section on top of each cupcake by hand, plus I don't think they put as many crumbs into the frosting as it was spread. ... show more

    • Takes out too much of the middle
I bake cupcakes for our family and they come out on the small size, nothing like the larger ones you get in the market or in stores. I like the idea of filling the middle of it with icing or other fruits, so I took a chance on this. I like that when you insert this, there was no resistance in pulling out the center. It comes out in a star shape, and then you fill the middle with whatever filling. Unfortunately, the removal star is very large compared to the cupcake and it takes out a good chunk of my cupcake. I feel this would really benefit those who make larger cupcakes. This is easy to clean and use, so I will now have to get bigger cupcake pans. ... show more

I love this flower shaped tool. Not only does it work for cupcake centers but it is great as a cookie cutter or fruit cutter as well. It is the perfect size cutter for homemade dog cookie treats! Easy to use plunger stops my sticky treat dough from getting stuck.

It's a novelty baking tool. A bit awkward to use. The cutter's stainless steel parts appear sturdy, as is the wooden handle, but the wooden "plunger" is askew and a little wobbly. Not sure how much I'll use it. Maybe it gets less awkward the more I use it.

    • You will need to trim the core of cupcake before putting back
My mom got this for me because I am starting to fool around with making filled cupcakes. I was using a paring knife with each core being more different than the next. This cupcake corer allows the user to create a hole in the center of the treat with a decent size opening. However, there are some modifications to be made. I did not want my filling to go all the way to the bottom so I stopped about 3/4 of the way down. The corer cannot cut the piece out unless it hits the bottom. I ended up twisting the corer to get the partial piece out of the cupcake. Once you put your filling in, the piece of cake will have to be trimmed in order to fit over your filling. I ended up cutting the very top of the core to fit back into the cupcake. Otherwise it's an OK piece to have in the kitchen ... show more
