Prior to this I was getting pretty good results using separate leveling and tamping tools, and probably would've never thought to get anything else. My tamper was pretty standard (decent upgrade from what came with my espresso machine), but the leveler was a Motta. Unfortunately the leveler fell off the top of my grinder onto an espresso mug, which put two barbs in the rim that made it uncomfortable to handle. After confirming Motta didn't sell just a replacement handle, I started shopping one-piece tools. I liked the all-silver yet understated look of this one. Compared to having separate tools, it's nice to only have the one footprint to deal with in your setup. Also the leveler and tamper depths are adjustable, so once tuned to your bean/grind, they do the same thing every time. I left the leveler setting as-is but put a little more depth on the tamper side. It gives a satisfying sink when compressing the grounds after leveling and a nice polish. I'm not exacting enough to where I weigh out the beans or grounds but am used to how much grind goes in the portafilter, and am getting more consistent results finishing with this tool. Shots come out with no noticeable difference every time, whereas before, some would pull faster than others. Really like the look, functionality, and simplicity of this tool. Also the 58.5mm is a perfect fit for my Gaggia Classic Pro.

This is such a good quality product. It has changed the way I make espresso for the better! It has a really nice weight to it. Distributes the coffee evenly and tempers nicely. Genuinely feels expensive and high quality. Also it being a two in one tool is amazing, not an extra item taking up space. It fits well with the breville bambino plus portafilter. I normally never leave reviews but this was a game changer for me, had to let everyone know.

I have been using a Breville Barista Express for about a year now. I have gotten pretty decent at tamping with the built-in tamper, but there is still occasional variation in my shots (pressure, time to extract, etc). Figured this tool would help me fine tune so that I could dial-in and pull my espresso shots more consistently. Let me just say that it didn’t just help a little - it helped a LOT! I weigh out the desired amount of espresso in the portafilter, using a digital scale for accuracy. Then this tool helps me distribute in the portafilter and tamp to a consistent depth every single time. There is no guesswork anymore and here is what has happened... my extraction time, extraction pressure, and weight of pulled shots are all very consistent. I had to use the tool for a few days and fine tune the depth of the tamp to work with my grind setting and weight of espresso. Now that I have it all set, my shots are repeatable within 0.5 - 1.0 grams, which was impossible for me to do manually. The espresso has lots of crema and taste is very consistent too. Overall this is very well made, feels incredibly solid (it is heavy), and I see huge improvements in the consistency of my shots. Definitely worth the price.

It's heavy and looks pretty. As a leveler, it works beautifully and effortlessly. I have two feedback/suggestions: 1. The tamper part still needs user calibration. Its depth is adjustable. Instructions online suggest that the end product puck should not touch the group head shower screen. I have it such so the tamper rests on the untamped ground without its edge touching the rim of the portafilter, then push down until I feel the edge touch the rim. But I have no way of know how much pressure has been applied, so I'm back to square 1. 2. The depth of the leveler is also adjustable. But why? It just need to spread out the espresso. The ground always get stuck in the groove on the leveler side, and I have to it knock out or clean with a stiff bristle brush.

It took me a while to get everything dialed in the way I like it, but now that it’s set, it’s a way to get consistent puck prep.

Most home barista’s know that grind size and being consistent are a huge part of making good espresso. Tamping plays a huge part of the equation. This tamper/leveler is worth its weight in gold. I did a lot of searching on different web sights selling these items. The cost was shockingly high and unreasonable to say the least. This purchase was not only reasonable but also a step above the rest. It is solid and heavy. You want a tamper/leveler that is solid and weighty so that you do less work. This product does both leveling and tamping. Did I mention it’s adjustable as well for depth. Both sides! Again alot depends on how much espresso you dose up in your basket and consistency as to how you adjust for performance. The size is absolutely perfect! Also it’s quite nice looking, and made of solid stainless steel. Nothing cheap whatsoever! Important to note that the 58.5 size is what you want for flush 58mm baskets. Do your research and check out prices. This tamper is easy on the wallet and quite a nice addition to my coffee bar.

This made all the difference on my Breville Bambino! I don’t know why Breville doesn’t sell these with the espresso machine instead of their cheap plastic that doesn’t tamp good enough. These are game changer that are heavy and superior quality!! I’m so happy I bought it!

This tamper is a beast! I would not want to drop this on my foot! I bought mine for a replacement to the stock Flair pro tamper. I couldn't be happier! This fits in the travel case of the Flair pro 3 and has a wide range of adjustability for different shot sizes. I would buy this again, but I won't need to because this tamper will last forever!
