Color: Pro - Kale Size: 25 oz
It has only been a couple of days. So far, so great. One thing worth updating is the reward and registration sites. Both, do not reflect accurately the product line. For instance, I purchased the 25 oz KALE Crazy Cap Pro Bottle. When attempting product registration - the product in KALE is NOT a choice on the drop-down, neither on the reward choices. ... show more

  • Somewhat disappointed.
I was very excited about purchasing this item, as I have a water bottle that's been with me ALL the time, just like my right hand for the last 7 years. I also am a huge fan of the Berkey filter and use that at home, however, was always pained that when traveling overseas I would always have to refill my bottle from a plastic jug that the homeowners I stayed with usually use. Or I'd get some kind of poisoning and end up off-site for a few days. So when these UV bottles became a thing I was very excited. I didn't have to worry about having a travel size Berkey or get a coal filter from the manufacturer of the largest bleach brand on the planet. I digress. So the positives - the shape of the bottle is very ergonomic, the feel is comfortable and sits right into my palm, the color (blue) is absolutely a gorgeous blue. The shape of the mouth is good and makes it easy to drink from while in the car. Charging and using the UV filter is very straightforward and simple. One charge holds for about 5 days when used multiple times a day as the exclusive hydration source. That being said - cleaning the bottle itself is once again the issue. Even though the description says self cleaning - it is absolutely not. The mouth area of the bottle needs to be cleaned with soap regularly otherwise you get a moldy/mildewy smell that forms after a week or so. It makes sense because of the way the cap sits on the bottle. The UV rays never hit the rim of the bottle - where I drink from. The idea to hold the UV light to it to clean-it was a good one, but there is no way you're keeping it lit on one square cm for 2minutes at a time and going round it... I tried, the smell was still there after 2 blasts, it then makes the cleaning process more inconvenient and complicated than just washing it. But then, that defeats the purpose of it being "self-cleaning." If you don't mind this part you could use this bottle for years as it is definitely very durable and sturdy. I will be returning the two and getting a more easy to clean option with a filter that will also remove micro-plastics and other chemicals too. At least then even if I still have to clean the rim of the bottle myself, I will also know that the bottle eliminates ALL harmful residue in the water, not just bacteria. ... show more

  • A Very Expensive Way to Keep Your Drink Cold
I'm not sure how well it works to kill 99.9% of pathogens (don't know that I want to knowingly test that one), but it does give me peace of mind when traveling. The mouth of the bottle is smaller than most, so getting ice into it is not convenient. While they boast about the cap not having a USB port to prevent water entry to the battery, the charging cap is bulky, so be sure the cap is charged if you don't want to carry it around. I wasn't sure I would keep it, but it has a lifetime warranty which is better than the competition. Update: 04/24/2023 - I seriously doubt the efficacy of this, especially since I accidentally turned it on with the cap off the bottle (Yikes) - I thought the light would "blind" me from the warning signs in the instructions, but it was barely bright at all, perhaps that is a safety mechanism. Regardless it shouldn't turn on when the cap is off the bottle. If nothing else - it keeps drinks cold for 24 hours, which is pretty amazing. But I wouldn't trust it with murky water. ... show more

  • UV disinfecting doesn't work well--GET ANOTHER UV BOTTLE INSTEAD
To preface this review, I previously had the Philips GoZero UV bottle, which worked excellently for me. It was everything I wanted in a UV bottle, and worked well. As someone who got sore throats from dirty water bottles even if I frequently washed them, it was a godsend. The inside never got smelly and even the mouth took quite some time to get smelly, if at all. However, the strap on it broke and I was looking to replace it. The Philips GoZero is thus my standard of comparison for a well-functioning UV bottle. THE CRAZYCAP 2 DID NOT WORK WELL. Within a few days, the water bottle was smelly--nothing like the Philips GoZero, which I've literally left for an entire summer without cleaning and it still smelled like nothing. This had to mean that the UV disinfecting wasn't working as well: The CrazyCap 2 auto-cleaning already only turns on once every four hours, and I have my doubts as to whether that's enough given how quickly bacteria grows (Philips turned on something like every hour). Even then, I'd run the CrazyCap 2 EVERY TIME I FILLED THE WATER BOTTLE UP OR DRANK FROM IT. IT STILL DEVELOPED SMELLS WITHIN DAYS. Even after cleaning the mouth, the inside of the bottle still smelled bad, so the bacteria had clearly spread to the inside. I know that the UV light doesn't touch the mouth of the bottle (and I'd even rinse/wipe the mouth after using it the first few times the bottle got smelly), but my old Philips would take ages for this to happen, if it did at all. Also, though I suppose this is to be expected somewhat given the small cap size, the battery life didn't go anywhere near the advertised 7 days. On the first charge, I only started manual cleaning once or twice (I wanted to see if the auto-cleaning was enough). It ran out at around 4 days. On my later charges, I'd use manual cleaning more often, ranging from a couple times a day during one charge cycle to every time I drank/refilled the bottle. Those drained in around 3 days. TL;DR: UV cleaning is poor on this model. Battery life is also short. Not worth the money. ... show more

  • Great Water Bottle
Color: Pro - Kale Size: 25 oz
Does exactly what it says it does, have noticed no build up or smell on the inside of the bottle after having it for a few months. My only gripe is that I use a pitcher with a filter to pour water in and the opening of the water bottle is rather small so it can be challenging to not miss without a funnel. ... show more
